  1. Yes, "Z.F". make Tiptronic (MY 99 - 996) come out without removing the engine. The later on M.B. make Tiptronic not.
  2. The horn that you hear belongs to the alarm system, this is not the same as the conventional horns which are operated from the steering wheel. Alarm horn is situated near the battery, conventional horns ( 1x Low - 1x High ) are situated behind the front bumper shell, right side (pass. side for L.H.D. cars)
  3. 986/987 use the same "Z.F Tiptronic" as the 99 996, so all actions, in terms of motor/Tip. removal and repair are pretty the same.
  4. If you want to remove and drive the car further on without the sensor, you have to program the sensor out of the system to avoid interferences caused by an incorrect programming.
  5. I have no experience with Durametric, but i doubt it will be possible.
  6. Vario cam is not the problem, rather the valve lift function on Vario cam plus system. Most of the time is a locking height mechanism inside the valve lifter the cause. Look a bit around, such cases are already been addressed.
  7. Indeed most European cars run 5 volt on CAN-BUS and SIGNAL wiring's. Therefor testing with a BULB and/or LET no longer applicable, a good quality multi/volt meter (such as FLUKE) is recommended.
  8. The siren and the battery are build as one piece and not separable, and yes, the alarm go off randomly.
  9. Don't forget the build-in battery in the siren, when the battery is defective, there will be no error code generated.
  10. Never connect accessories to a 5 volt wiring, it's the CAN-BUS wiring. Strange and unexplained failures will occur. Repair everything ASAP in their original state.
  11. The switch must be taken from the gearbox in order to test the different positions manually (with a flat screwdriver or something similar) These switches have a relatively simple construction with little to no mechanical issues as bounding, it's usually the small shaft which cross the switch in to the gearbox which causes problems, in other words inside the Tiptronic. I hope for you that I'm wrong.
  12. It may sound strange, but in most cases it's only a matter of wrong wheel/tires size. Check this first before you replace Tiptronic parts.
  13. The "engage point" is not adjustable, a new pressure plate, disc and release bearing will solve your problem, bleed the system well also. A too high "engage point" indicates a worn clutch or/and a cracked pressure plate. Terms of costs in the US, i'm not informed, cant help with that, others will chime in.
  14. With a very small TORX bit, T10 i thought, not 100% sure about it, the small screw is located on the side of the handle, as you pull the latch open.
  15. Are the wheels completely, including tires and valve stems, supplied by Porsche or just the rims? In the first case use your warranty, in the second case it may be that the valve stems do not have the correct size, go buy them by the dealership or pull rubber valve stems in if you want it cheaper.

  17. I would at least begin to bleed the system well and see what it gives, parts can be replaced later on if still no result.
  18. How have you determined that the alarm system is the culprit? Since you have replaced the steering lock mechanism, it would be rather the regular horn (with controls in the steering wheel). If you wish, let the car scan on error codes to be sure.
  19. The question is how the seat adjustment function have tested, with a person in the seat (loaded) or empty (unloaded). If the adjustment does functioning loaded and well unloaded, the motor is worn out.
  20. You'd also perform an oil and filter change as inexpensive solution, you name it "shifts upwards slowly" but is that really true, has already an experienced person driven the car? Keep also in mind that it is a Tiptronic and no PDK.
  21. Are you sure the tire and wheel sizes are conform, Tiptronic gearboxes are very sensitive to such matters. The programmed shift diagrams are than no longer match.

  23. They are trim color related and different left and right, so it is not that simple. I would contact Sunset Porsche Parts, use the Special Offers button on top of the page.
  24. A liter of petrol gives approx. a liter of water when ignited in the combustion chamber, a part of it disappears into the engine block by blow-by, the greater part in the exhaust. Drops of water will evaporate into the warming exhaust and becomes visible as vapour until the complete exhaust system is heated. The colder and or the higher outside air humidity is, the longer the phenomenon occurs. The length of the exhaust system is also important, thus for a Cayenne the vapour is longer visible and even not disappear under the same conditions, and yes 35° F is cold enough.
  25. As i already mentioned in my previous post, it's most likely vapour, produced by a cold engine and cold outside temperatures.It would not be normal for a turbo engine, smoke during four minutes without a noticeable change in oil and coolant level, and besides run properly seen no complaint about that is mentioned in Mike's previous posts.
