  1. The noise at cold start is probably caused by the secondary air pump, the pump is always a little audible when running in cold start conditions, even when new. From here i can not hear how much noise the pump really produces, but if the noise increases, i would certainly have it checked.
  2. + 1, that is unfortunately often the case.
  3. A 5-W30 oil viscosity is too thin, the use of a synthetic 5-W40 or 5-W50 will be cheaper in long term, Your engine will be happier with it.
  4. It is indeed about the sunroof drains, the best way to check is pouring some water into the drains and look where a part of the water enter into the car interior. If a leak in the drain tube is concerned, and no clogging, most of the water will still leave the car through the drain, Do not think everything is OK if you see water running under the car, a part of it is just dripping under the carpet.
  5. Trough the A style to the lower longitudinal beams, the problem occurs when there is a leak arise in the drain tube, rather than a clogged tube.
  6. Paid also attention to the sunroof drains, if present, which may also be damaged.
  7. This is normal behavior on Cayenne V8, when you floor the accelerator pedal hard and in one movement, nothing to worry about.

  10. Are you talking about a gap between the hard part of the top and the clam shell or between the seal and the clam shell? The hardtop is adjustable on both side, rear locks, there should be info relating to the adjustment procedure on this site somewhere.

The module must be programmed with the entry "convertible roof not present" otherwise you get an indication on the dash as "communication problem convertible roof" This is because one and the same program is used for convertible 997, which operates according to a hydraulic-electrical system with supplementary module. However 987 convertible works independently and electrical-mechanical, the relays, 1 up and 1 down, and fuses are located in the fuse and relay holders near the drivers feet (LHD vehicle). I suspect, rather, an error in this fuse/relay system.

  13. It is possible if you take the suspension and shaft away from the rear sub chassis, but you still need to lower the power train partially. It is as much work (time) to lower the complete power train, which i prefer to approve the accessibility.
  14. I would suggest a check with a PIWIS in combination with a HC/CO/CO²/O² tester to be able to follow the combustion process more closely. After all, you speak about black smoke which is caused by either too much fuel, too little air or a combination of both, these are still the basics of combustion. However, burning oil as suggested causes blue smoke, it is up to you to take another good look over what colour it really is. It is in fact very important for further diagnosis and as a measure for the forum members to provide further assistance.
  15. In my opinion it"s an easy DIY, you must replace almost the entire door trim. Whether it is a cheap DIY is another question.
  16. Treat the glass outside surface with liquid car polish as "Simoniz" or similar product when the window is fully closed, it makes the glass surface slippery as ice, now the surface is too rough and takes the seal downwards.
  17. johnsnow, the engine to chassis ground cable is located underneath the engine.
  18. An LWFW can not solve the problem, in contrary it is solid and absorbs no vibration at all. Only a properly functioning dual mass flywheel does the job as it should.
  19. Both dead centers of the engine during the combustion process cause vibrations which manifests itself in the gearbox as chatter, this phenomenon is reduced as the motor torque increases. To avoid this chatter a dual mass flywheel is mounted. It's all a bit more complicated, but this is the shortest and simplest explanation.
  20. Could be a dual mass flywheel faillure if the car is still stock, you will need to know this in first place. Perhaps by the previous owner?
  21. I have my doubts whether the wheel on the pic. it looks like the valve does not appear as a TPM valve. Maybe i have not seen but there is no sensor in the wheel to me.
  22. The rollers are indeed the idlers on the belt drive system, just as you say.
  23. Check if the electrical connector on the steering rack is still in place, most other causes are, wiring, speed signal missing, steering rack failure. I hope for you that it is a loose connector.
  24. Strictly speaking there should be no noticeable difference in voltage, the freewheel pulley ensures a quiet and vibration free, and therefor less stressful for the belt and rollers, operation, especially when downshifting (engine braking). Anyway, keep always in mind that alternators with a "solid" pulley needs metal rollers, alternators with a "freewheel" pulley can use both, plastic and metal rollers. Plastic rollers are not resistant against the more rough operation of a alternator with a 'solid" pulley.
