  1. To achieve the sunroof rear drains make the headliner partialy detached, started at the top of the rear window. Please note, the drain tubes are highly vulnerable to leaks, be careful.
  2. If you have a Tiptronic, the gearbox will show a strange switching behavior in automatic mode due by a changed final drive, 45 instead of 40 for the same 20" rim.
  3. The screen is probably not glued properly in the slot, remove the rubber seal, put another layer of glazing sealant around the window and place the rubber seal back. It would than have to be solved.
  4. It must be "CONSUMER" of course. Sorry.
  5. Durametric is provided by a German importer in Belgium which actually triple the US price + taxes. The result is that individuals do not buy because too expensive, you can at least 50 times to the dealer for a check, and you are still better off here. The dealer network (OPC) is also no problem, the maximum distance between costumer and dealer is merely 50 Km.
  6. Take a look at the bottom of the car, at the level of the left hand rear wheel, you should find two electrical connectors. There is often one ore more of the wires been overheated, repair this problem and find the cause. Usualy too heavy consuming power fuel pump(s), starting jamming, are the culprit.
  7. The pivots of the top can be lubricated using a Teflon containing dry lube to avoid oily deposits after time.
  8. A simple question, what about the condition of the OAS?
  9. Be sure there are no air bubbles left in the cooling system, best to use an airlift vacuum device as on this topic post # 22 (http://www.renntech.org/forums/topic/32508-radiator-flush/page-2?hl= cooling system fill) it's very hard to get the air out in the conventional way.
  10. Yes, the filter can be replacet without draining the oil system, further there is nothing wrong with the Original filter brand.
  11. Indeed JFP, cam cover not camshafts. I have more problems with a slip of the tongue these days, especialy in another language, oh well we'll see.
  12. I can not exactly remember me but is noth that on a MY 99, the camshafts should be removed in order to remove the solenoide?
  13. http://www.renntech.org/forums/topic/41648-how-to-remove-rear-window-regulator-996-cab/?hl=%2Brear+%2Bwindow+%2Bpanel+%2Bconvertible#entry221907 Welcome and help yourself.
  14. If you meant a "pump unit" 987 RDC have it right, you can also remove the pump from the housing and order at Robert Bosch, the identification numbers are stamped on the old pump, it costs a lot less.
  15. A dual-mass flywheel that is no longer acceptable can be usually notice by a rough engine idle and a kind of knock sound when the throttle is brutally rotated from closed to open. To be sure, the gearbox must be removed and the flywheel measured with a set, by LUK available, special tools. If there are many fatty substance between the two flywheel halfs and around the core, where the bolts are, is detected, this also points to a dying flywheel.
  16. Good that you mentioned, where it seems that the noise coming from around the door, try with the door open, sometimes it comes from the hinges or door catcher.
  17. Use on public roads in poor condition the original standaard wheels and tires with N-coding, be sure that the suspension is in good condition and completely free of any play, and fill the fuel tank completely for alignment. I would the alignment, when in doubt, have it done in an Official Porsche Centre, after all, they always have the correct adjustment data, and if the result should not prove to be good, they must, in consultation with the costumer and to everyone satisfi, solve the problem.
  18. Lies nothing loose inside the protection bag with the spare wheel for instance?
  19. I would also take a look at the brakes, maybe there remains a sticking pad.
  20. During the 50's, for the Insurance, a car with 2 seats was classified as sports car, 4 seats as family car, coupe or GT, which clearly had to pay less premium in domestic and most of the West European countries. As Europe, at the time the larges market for the brand, had such a solution the best chance of sales success.
  21. It looks like JFP and i are on the same time on the same line!
  22. :welcome: hope you like the forum and good luck with the car.
  23. May vary depending the programming, with factory/delivery programming the A/C is turned on as default. It is in these circumstances normal behavior.
  24. As others already reporting electrical problems can cause strange problems, anyway it looks like that the reported problems are all speed signal related. In this context a problem with the ABS system is not too far away since the unit is responsible for the further distribution, to other control boxes, of the speed signal. It is perfectly possible, with a PIWIS, to determine whether the signal arrives in to the unit or not, and whether it is further distributed. A weak signal can be caused by a too high resistance in the wiring/connectors, etc. due to corrosion and can be temperature related.
  25. The oil pressure is higher when the engine is cold because the oil is thicker when cold (bounded by the pressure control valve), as the oil warms up it will be thinner and thus, at identical engine speed, the oil pressure drop. Keep in mind that the oil pump generate flow, the pressure is determined by restrictions inside the engine, and bounded/controled by the pressure valve. If the restrictions increase in size by wear, excessive bearing clearance, inner leaking chain tensioners, etc., the pressure will reduce at identical engine speed. Hope it helps a little.
