  1. Probably the assist spring up on the clutch pedal or the switch, a little grease can do miracles.
  2. 997 - 987 MY 2005 = old design 997 - 987 MY 2006 and later = new design intermediate shaft.
  3. You need a repair kit, the silver spring under the button is fold a little, it's a very fragile system. If you use the old spring it is possible that the flap refuge to close or refuge to go open, let the dealer fix it under warranty.
  4. I'm not sure for US cars, check this furst you need the DME from the 3.2 donor car, ATT. DME for TIP. is not the same as for the MAN. gearbox ( if it is the case ) You need the alarm control box from the 3.2 donor car You need the remote control from the 3.2 donor car Wiring can be different
  5. Let the battery check in the dealership, i wonder why they give you the car back with the same problem.
  6. There are cooling water diffusers and hoses, under the intake manifold behind the oil filter, which can leak take a look on this area first. ( 996 -997 tt )
  7. I think the timing chains, they can rattle after one or two days of stand still when the oil is leaking to the oil pan, it's not exactly uncommon on 996 -986.
  8. No, only PIWIS, PST2 is out since 2004 over here and no longer updated, to slow, to restricted simply to old.
  9. The grill is not bolted, it's a click-in system, from inside to outside. Sometimes it will work without removing the front.
  10. Some 997 in Europe have a DME update towards the fan on the engine hood, not for the mapping.
  11. Is your battery in good condition?A bad battery can expire odd things.
  12. I have no pics available at the moment, but it's easy. You have to remove the head liner, starting-point is the front side trim left and right, sun visors, interior light and the complete front trim. Than go to the rear and pull out the rear side trim left and right, just pull them out of the way it's not nessesarely to remove the trim completely, there is room enough. Unhook the head liner from the rear transverse and you can see the first metal rib which hold the liner tightly stretched, pull the rib gently out of his fixation hole side by side, the ribs are lightly buoyant. Do the same with the other ribs toward the front windshield. The complete roof panel is now accessible. Reassembly in reverse Enjoy!
  13. Tighten the flange in a vice and you can hammer the stud out in one move, even without heating, take a heavy mallet.
  14. Good chance that you can fix it with an adjustment.
  15. montegoblue The best is to remove the old foam and re glued completely, between the transverses ( from the front to the rear ) you can glue damper material, the same stuff you find in the doors on the inside of the outer metal panel. Looks like roofing material. The drum noise is 100% gone if the job is done well. PS Never buy a GT3RS if you hate this noise. Regards.
  16. Build in the lock on the front, can changed separately after you build the lock out.
  17. What noise is it on the head liner? Do you have a slide roof? The head liner near the rear window is mounted with a sort of click system behind the rear transverse of the roof panel, how is glued with special glue to the roof panel. In some cases they can come loose and you hear a drum noise. It can fixed perfectly. If you have a slide roof, it can happen that the liner of the slider hit the head liner on the back while driving on ruff roads with sliding roof closed, in this case you can test it while driving just push the liner up with your fingers.
  18. Indeed, the problem is that the flap ( on the pic. ) is a part of the dash and is reinforced with a metal plate. It is not possible to fix that on a substantial way.
  19. Correct Loren, but when the airbag come out the top of the dash is deformed and cracked. Same problem on Cayenne.
  20. Trey the push buttons reset trip counter or clock, i cant remember, push and hold it for at least 10 seconds with ignition on or engine running. Some ROW versions will switch from miles to kilometers and outside temperature from F to C. In this case it is in the book.
  21. Before you start with a hammer, remove the Lambda probes , they don't like shocks.
  22. Take a look in the 986 DIY common fixes and repairs " Fixed my lack of heat problem " item 5. This can be your problem.
  23. After several test done with separate water and separate oil temp. meters for all water cooled boxer and V-8 Porsche engines under normal driving conditions and approx. 20° C outside temp., i have observed that you reach the working temp. of the coolant after approx. 5 Km and 10 Km for the oil, started with a cold engine and Revs. between 3.000 and 4.000 RPM. in spite of the water - oil exchanger. Believed or not.
  24. Probably an issue with the window motor-control box inside the door, this box got the control over all the components in and on the door ( mirror - window - kessy - etc. ) Perhaps a read-out from an other car with the same equipment, year, engine and sort of key ( two or tree buttons ) can help after you have read-in the new values. If you have no result with this, you need a new motor-control box i think.
  25. It is not possible to use screw types clamps, it is a snap in system, change the O ring and the clip to be sure.
