  1. "Access" behind the central grill looks better. Sorry.
  2. The easiest way to have exes behind the central grill is still removing the bumper, if you can do the job in the front side grills area ( above the fog lights and the claxons ), you have only the under plate and the small flaps to remove.
  3. You need from the donor car, DME - behind the trim in the rear trunk, the alarm control box - under the left seat ( LHD cars ) and the key fobs - remote control. The donor car must have the same transmission as yours, tiptronic or manual.
  4. Remove the triangular inside trim, disconnect the electric connector behind the trim, remove the screws, done.
  5. The MY 05 start after the summer holiday period in Germany, it is completely normal that the car is sold from Sept. - Oct. 04 as MY 05.
  6. Look in the thermostat housing, some propeller pieces get stuck between the thermostat valve and the body.
  7. Plug and play don't work with air suspension control boxes, they need a complete calibrating and program process. The production year is in the VIN xxxxxx9pz (4) laxxxxxx. Yes Porsche change every MY a lot.
  8. You need a PIWIS tester to pinpoint the problem, by the way using a multimeter on airbag systems is dangerous, the battery inside the meter can let explode the modules ( meter in Ohm possition ).
  9. Air suspension control box needs the ride height values from the 4 corners, some one with a PIWIS and the knowledge can help you out.
  10. The one with the covered pulley have a free wheel, the other one have a fixed pulley. If the original have a fixed pulley, replace with the same type.
  11. Approx. 30 minutes for both sides + a beer and a cigarette. You can easily break the clips, that's true.
  12. No, the engine can stay in place if you use the new parts. It is no longer needed to remove the engine.
  13. Yes, see my previous post. The main lines are in the V under the intake manifold and some small ones on the back of the cylinder heads ( on top of the gearbox, cooling water drips up and in the torque converter housing )
  14. The lines are in the middle of the V, between both cylinder banks. the water comes out via the starter motor and the gear box. The engine can stay in place since shortly. The old lines are made from plastic and will cracked, the new ones are made from cast aluminium, this is what you need: 948 106 059 05 set of tubes ( small ), 948 106 049 07 tube ( big ) inclusive short rubber tube and 2 snap rings. The intake manifold have to be removed and sometimes it's hard to remove the old lines, they will break inside the engine.
  15. The wiring on the starter motor ( nuts ) can come loose, especially the smallest.
  16. Pour 15L fuel in your tank, without reading the gauge, and trey again if you have changed only the mufflers. Easey, cheap and regularly successful.
  17. This sensor sucks the interior air around his build in temperature element with a small fan to correct the out flow air temp. of the climate system. This suction is needed to have a swirl around the temp. element, which is more correct than stagnant air. It is the fan that you can hear, replacing is the only solution on long term.
  18. Are you sure that the wiring on the starter motor connection is in good shape? Negative cable from engine to body in good shape? I should start in revers order to pinpoint the problem in your case, beginning with the starter motor connection-wiring to relais/controlbox-wiring to switches, etc. Perhaps Loren can help you out with a electric diagram ( ground plan )

  20. Richard The parts # given by Porsche UK concerning the latest version is OK if the PCM have got the previous up date. They have to check this before ( the PCM can block ) Regards.

  22. Bleeding 4 brake calipers at the same time, that means 8 nipples, is a lot. Take one wheel by one beginning on the RR - LR - RF and LF and take the inner nipple first. After bleeding with the power bleeder, do the same one more time manually. It is not necessary to lift the car and removing the wheels on a Turbo, there is room enough between the spokes to manoeuvre.
  23. The rotors are calculated to change out while installing the third set of pads from new, in other words, you can use 2 sets of pads and than replace the rotors with the 3th set. Changing the sensors at the same time of the pads is recommended. This are averaged values.
  24. The biggest difference is: dont remove the side markers. remove the metal slip connectors where the bumper meets the fenders just near the hood, left and right with a long flat screw driver or a hook, after you have removed both head lights. remove both front part of the inner wheel liners. remove the screw in the side marker area. disconnect the head light washer water tube connector on the left side of the car. disconnect the electric connector on the back side of the right radiator. the rest is the same as the 986.
  25. Not many DIY people have got this situation, they have to change the pads in average 5 x in the time they own the car. This is too little to have a good overview, once you have done a couple of thousands ( since the introduction on the 964 ) the overview is totally different.
