  1. Jeremy Clarkson is not a bad guy, his fellow performers James May and Richard Hammond in Top Gear are more positive, its only a game they play. This program is turned from car test into a more general amusement during the years.
  2. You are right, the best is to remove the pads first and than the bolt that hold the rotor to the hub, tap with a hammer so that the rotor come free of the hub, remove both caliper bolts and lift the caliper with your left hand a little up while you remove the rotor with your right hand. Install in reverse order.
  3. Beecher, fill 8 liter to start with, normally it is fine.
  4. In some country's, Israel for example, is it obligatory by law to have a spare wheel. Try to contact a dealer or a forum, they know what to do.
  5. You need PIWIS - menu 997 - sub menu PAS - coding - scroll till door lock - you got 3 possibility's a) no locking B) locking at start ( = ignition on ) c) locking > 5 km/h. - mark for example lock at start and push code button - mark key 1 and do the same - mark key 2 and do the same - abandon coding - abandon menu PAS - abandon menu 997 - done. I hope this helps.
  6. All Porsche tiptronics are in 2 gear to start in automatic mode if the engine is warm, you have to floor the accelerator pedal to downshift to 1 gear, not really a good advice for normal driving. The tiptronic start always in 1 gear with a cold engine to warming up the Lambda sensors.
  7. What is the relation between 17" 18" and 19" wheels and brake pads ? Do i missing something ? Please explain.
  8. Pull out the triangular inner trim, pull out the electric connector, remove the connecting screws whyle holding up the mirror, done. ( could be a little differend for a 07 Cayenne ) ;)
  9. It takes approx. 1 hour to change the water pump and makes the car roadworthy.
  10. You need a lift to replace the sensor, it takes 15 minutes if you do it from the bottom side.
  11. I never heart this story, are you sure that all parts are installed correctly? You have to install on the rod: 1 steel ring, the bump stop, 1 parabolic spacer ( the hollow side facing downward ) pull the shock in the carrier, 1 parabolic spacer on top of the carrier ( the hollow side facing upward ) the locking nut. There is a big rubber spacer between the spring and the carrier and available in 2 sizes ( thickness ) depends on the type of spring, perhaps you need the thicker one. Ask Loren for an exploded view, than you can see what i mean.
  12. Grab the motor with your hand, you can feel the motor working if you go to an other combination and back.
  13. 996 LHD: bank 2 is located on the right side ( passenger side ) hall sensor 2 is located on top of the cylinder head straight in front of the intake camshaft near the gearbox and besides the oil cooler ( heat exchanger )
  14. Rotate the 4 tyres, nudani, why ??
  15. The servo motor most nearly the firewall on the left upper side of the unit ( passenger side in your case ) controls the windscreen function, look for working. If not, a visit to the dealer is recommended.
  16. Remove the glass ( pull out ) and the rear shell to get access inside the mirror, the bulb is the same as the side marker and the possition light.
  17. R1STCARRERA If your car is equipped with memory seats, take a look on the wiring under the driver seat, it can happen that one of the wires have contact with the car body with this strange effect as result. If it looks OK, you will need a diagnostic tool to detect fault codes, the safest and quickest way to find out.
  18. The relays are located above the fuse box on the left side in the foot well, 4 relays: 1 left low speed, 1 left high speed and the same for the right fan, but the most common issue is the resistor ( ballast ) low speed missing. You can check the fan if you make a bridge( 30 - 87 ) in the left high speed relay location, with the relay removed and ignition on.
  19. " Clean filler cap before removing " means that you must wipe the dirt off the cap to prevent dirt penetration in to the fluid reservoir. The cap is probably closed with to much force and the windings can be damaged, in the cap or on the reservoir or both.
  20. PCM 2 ( U.K. 2004 ) needs no codes, the system is linked to the VIN.
  21. It depends which connector design your car have, the older ones have 2 locking clips, 1 on each small side and the newer ones have 1 locking clip on the long side. You have to find this out first, the first one on the site is for the 2 clips version
  22. Engines, transmissions and other expensive parts have a different arrangement, more ordinary parts as RMS, wheel bearings, etc. are under this rule. MAF sensors are for example a classic point for discussions, which in most situations are solved.
  23. Most common valve block issue is rough downshifting from 3 to 2 gear.
  24. I don't have the exactly part # in my mind, but it is ESSO and the color is goldish, 4 liter is too little to do the oil change.
  25. It is normal that a new litronic lamp have a different color than one with, let say 1000 working hours. You can change the older one to have the same color or you have to live with the difference in color, its up to you. The life time is approx. 3.000 hours.
