  1. Looks like there is no regular pattern in the Cayenne production/delivery, remember the non existing MY 07. I haven't seen a MY 09 over here yet, perhaps they privileged the most important markets for them first. Japan is RHD with different options and programming, could be the reason.
  2. Start with the activator check, if it looks OK clear the fault code and drive the car as usual till the code comes back ( if she ever comes back ). Spontaneously occurred problems with the sensor or wiring are not really common but are still possible. Give it a try, you can replace the sensor all the time, in spite of his unpleasant possition with the water hose in the way.
  3. I should take Mobil 1 0W - 40 as recommended. You never cant do wrong with that.
  4. The AOS is the culprit no doubt about that, do a search for the replacing procedure, it is discussed manny times. Oh and congrats with your wedding
  5. 996 MY 02 and 03 are different, the sensor on top of cyl. 4 is a cam angle sensor. What you need are the actuators located in the camshaft covers near spark plug 3 for bank 1 and near spark plug 4 for bank 2. You can check them easily, disconnect the connector - take a 12 volt source - connect the + of the source with the actuator - let the engine idling and connect the - of the source intermittent with the actuator, if you can hear a difference in engine idle smoothness ( rougher ) the actuator is OK electrically and mechanically. If there is no difference in idle pattern, shut off the engine and let the ignition on - do the same as above - if you can hear "tic tic tic" the actuator is electrically OK but mechanically faulty. In fact the PIWIS tester does the same but quicker. Hope it helps.
  6. A specialised workshop in automatic transmissions with ZF connections can help you out.
  7. Try to catch the fault codes with a diagnostic tool, disconnecting the battery will reset the DME ( watch the radio code ), it is probably not RMS or IMS.
  8. Are you sure about the cat's, they can particularly block the exhaust if the ceramic element is broken.
  9. No it's not really common on 987, there was an action on 997 MY 05 for that problem, the angle between the cables and the connector ( mounted on the gear box ) was too sharp, with early cable failure as result.
  10. Usually MY 09 start after the holiday period 08 in Germany, which is July - august. September - October is regularly the most early new MY build period, delivery in November - December could be right.
  11. In the 996 forum: " Water in the driver door " Loren posted a diagram with the drains for 996 coupe with sun roof, it is # 2 you need, visible after removing the front wheel and wheel well. Just pull the button out, the drain tube is attached on it.
  12. You mean the park lights ? Head light switch off, key out of ignition, direction indicator stalk to the left = left park light front and rear on - stalk to the right = right park light front and rear on.
  13. The PIWIS tester will give you " Speed signal missing "
  14. The sunroof drains comes not as a tube in the wheel well, the drain looks like a press-in button and is situated in the lower extension of the A pillars behind the front wheels. It is not recommended to enter the hose with a metal wire, the hose is made from very vulnerable stuff, you will see what i mean when you pull out the drain button.
  15. You need a brake test bench to check the brake power balance between the front and rear brakes. Under normal driving conditions you cant feel the rear brakes working.
  16. Looks like the first 3 items are speed signal related, check the fault codes. Try your second key for item 4.
  17. Mileage is not the point, the condition of the rotor is determining.
  18. ROW 03 996 have the vario valve lift system, what means that the faulty lifter is blocked on full or minimum lift. The misfire fault appears because the cylinder receive more or less fuel mixture than the other cylinders. The lifter makes no noise at all. Noisy lifters can happen on < 02 996.
  19. Broken or loose cable connection on the gearbox could be the answer, take a look under the car.
  20. Good chance the OPC got it right, a faulty valve lifter. It is not necessary to change all the lifters, only the faulty one is needed. The engine can stay in place to do the job, just removing the exhaust and let sink the engine on the rear a little.
  21. Definitely not possible, the PCM 3 is totally different as system ( hard disc system ).
  22. Action will take place, generally spoken, before reaching the limit, don't worry about that.
  23. There was an issue with the Cayenne PCM 2 concerning overheating of the non Bose unit two years ago, they are replaced. I have no info for 996. Some 997 PCM 2.1 have a cooling fan on the navi. DVD drive in the front trunk, but it have nothing to do with your problem.
  24. 1,5 gr/km. = 1,500 kg./1.000 km. for all Porsche engines.
  25. Looks like the gearbox is a Tiptronic ( oil pump ), the best option is to buy a rebuild box with two years warranty.
