  1. I've got watery eyes with your story, may God bless you for not being selfish. May God bless our armed forces personnel. You did not loose a 911, on the contrary you've gain positive karma. Without going into details, I should have done the same thing, my respect and admiration. In my book you are still part of the Porsche family.
  2. If I recall correctly, the switch on the left side of the clutch peddal is the kill switch to start the car, the switch to the right of the clutch pedal is for the cruise controll. Corect me if I'm wrong. After by-passing the switch/es, did the car start?
  3. If the car is not a tiptronic, can you push-start it? Also check the clutch kill switch. It happened to me.
  4. Steve, Perry: I did a quick search and found these links. Did not read them entirely. Hope you can find something to help you. My car is a MY99 C2. I replaced the dash and door speakers, radio and cd changer with after market units, also an active subwoofer enclosure. http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...90&hl=sound http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...95&hl=sound http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...07&hl=sound http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...17&hl=sound http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...98&hl=sound http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...mp;hl=amplifier http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...mp;hl=amplifier http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...mp;hl=amplifier http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...mp;hl=amplifier http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...mp;hl=amplifier http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...mp;hl=amplifier http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...mp;hl=amplifier http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...33&hl=audio http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...84&hl=audio http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...amp;hl=speakers
  5. Would be helpful if you post your car's model, year, etc. Also do a search, i would suggest under "amplifier".
  6. It would be the same proces for the OBC hack when you do it with the stack. Do a seach.
  7. There is another rubber tube towards the center of the pic to the righ, much smaller that the tube you are reffering to but dissconnected as well.
  8. Go to Importatnt Topics in the 996 forum, once there go to "Lost Radio Code" There is a very good chance you could get the code. Good Luck.
  9. I had a similar problem, replaced the clutch safety switch and so far no more problems, you can either replace the switch or do as RFM says.
  10. Loren: Please don't think I'm antagonizing with you, I'm just confused. Lets consider this without the remote. The valey key does not have a barcode (24 digit code) What has the code, the car or the black pellet on the key head? Do you program the key code to the immobilizer control unit (ICU) or "a" code from the ICU to the key black pellet? Which is what the "tech" said he was doing. I was able to get the IPAS for my car, is it only for key programing or for any activation that needs an IPAS? If programming a key is configuring the code from a key (black pellet) to the ICU, how can I tell wich code displayed on the PST2 screen belongs to whayt key?
  11. Found a tech with a PST2 (laptop) and programmed a brand new valett key. Do have a used key and asked if it could be programed as well, although I know that the remote was not going to be possible to program due to no barcodes. The tech advised that he could only program a brand new key. I was under the impression that the key, regardless of the code in the black pill-like thing (transponder?), was programmed in to the car , not the car programming the car code to the black pill-like thing (transponder?) whis is what the tech said what programming a key was about. Noticed the car only had one empty slot for a key. Could it be possible to delet all four keys and re=program the original key tha came with the car, the valett key and the extra used key I have? How can I tell looking at the PST2 whick key code belonga to waht key? Also, asked if he could enable the OBC and he said that not all models had that capability, after insisting a little asked to try and he was bale to acyic=vated it. Next, the OBC hack. Was able to keep the password to program the keys in my car. The tech mentioned that some features need a password different from the password to programs the keys, is that true?
  12. Ooops... stupid me.
  13. How does the Durametric software, enthusiast edition, knows/register it has reached the maximum numbers of cars, VIN, diagnosed, in the software, in the cable, or both? Does the pins on the connector has the same layout as the PST2/PIWI connector? Have a friend with Durametric but lost the cable and also a friend willing to let me use a PST2 cable.
  14. When you built a clone PIWI, what software do you need, where can you get it?
  15. I was not happy with the original equipment sound quality, and you are correct when you say you see a pattern. My complaint was, basically, with the bass. I installed a Bazooka ans I'm very happy. Other owners have done different things to improve the sound system on their cars. For the front speakers I have 4" MBQuartz and for the door speakers I have Polk's 5", the amp is a Holliwood Sound Labs. and the receiver is Pioneers, reads MP3s, with USB port and a Pioneers 12 cd CHANGER. Guess I can drive all the way from Miami to San Francisco without stopping the music.LOL.
  16. I have a HAES amp from my MY99 C2, it shows 996 coupe M490 and the porsche part number is 996-645-311-00. By the time I disconnect it it was working fine. Replaced the sound system on my car with after market head unit, amp and speakers. However, can't find the connector. Many POrsche fans replace the factory sound system for a better quality after market. Also, dont know if the MY2000 has the MOST system which would make a difference. I would go with an after market sound system. I used the existing wiring.
  17. Replaced the clutch switch and sp far working fine.
  18. Lore: Do you know if there is a place to put a transponder (in order to start the car not to remotely open it) inside this lamp head? Just like a valet key.
  19. Thanks Loren. Will pass the offer on Ebay.
  20. Hi everyone: Does the Lamp Key Head, P/N 996-637-041-00, comes with a transponder? Thanks.
  21. Congrats! Welcome to the club. Sunset Imports. Go to the Special Offers section. This is the best palce. Check the DIY section. Don't forget to post pics.
  22. From an old post by Loren: "Just to clarify (on US/Canadian cars) there are two clutch switches -- one for the clutch interlock and one for cruise control." Which is which? Looking at the clutch pedal, the clutch switch is on the right or left of the pedal? Need the info in order to replace the switch. Thanks
