  1. I turned 12,000 miles on my 997 C2S today, and haven't added a quart of oil since I drove it off the lot. Delivery miles were under 10. Contrary to what many feel, I believe that breakin does make a difference. My 996 had 150+ miles on it when I took delivery, and it used a quart of oil every 1,500 miles until I sold it with about 40,000 miles on it. My 986 had around 15 miles at delivery, and I added one quart of oil in 70,000 miles. Both of the cars delivered with "new" mileage didn't use oil. The car delivered with 100+ miles used oil. The story from the salesman on the car with 100+ miles is that he drove it home a few times, but outside of that it hadn't been driven. I believe that it had been test driven and abused during the first 100 miles. The cars delivered with "new" mileage were driven in accordance with the instructions in the user's manual. Make your own decision, but I know what I believe.
