  1. You'll need some 1156 LED bulbs, both amber and white. You'll need some short BA15S sockets. If the bulbs you choose need resistors, you'll also need some thermal tape ( Amazon ) to mount them. The sockets are just a bit too short, so you'll have to slightly modify them, turning the mounting hole into an oval. A pair of wiredykes makes quick work of it. After that, you'll need to make up a wiring harness. It's easy with some terminals and a good pair of crimpers. If the bulbs you choose don't need resistors, the harness will look like this. Now to install everything. Not shown, but I used electrical tape and wrapped around the connection to the car, the pink (or blue depending on gauge!) terminals going into the car's white connectors. If you needed the resistors, simply run the wire out of the back of the hole(s) so you can get them into the car. The resistors get HOT. I mounted them with some thermal tape to the inside of the car. Don't be tempted to hide the resistors in the tail housing. This would be a HUGE mistake. They need to be on metal. And that's it! This is the before and after. It's really insane how dim the stock bulbs are. And yes, all 4 are lit up in this pic, both turns and the reverse.
  2. This is the real deal with car batteries, be it AGM or not. In America, there are only 3 battery manufacturers that dominate 95% of the car battery market: Johnson Controls Inc, Exide, and East Penn. And of those 3, JCI has about a 75% market share all by themselves. What that means is, when you walk into a store to buy a car battery, no matter what the sticker on the side of the battery says, be in Duralast, Duracell, Energizer, Interstate, Deka, SuperStart, whatever, they are all made by pretty much the same company, coming off of the same assembly line. What this means to you as a consumer is, buy whatever battery has the best price to warranty ratio. For me? I buy EverStart MAXX batteries from Walmart. "But Walmart you say? For my Porsche? I'd never do that!" Do you really think Walmart makes their own batteries? Of course not. They get them from the same place everyone else gets them, one of the Big 3, just with a different sticker and a lower price. As far as AGM vs standard? I've used AGM in the past, and I honestly didn't see a difference in performance long term, except in the price. They weigh the same, so you're not gaining there, they generally have *less* cold cranking amps for a given group size, but the certainty cost more. So for me, I just get the longest warranty standard type battery that fits. For my 997.2, an H8 fits in the tray just fine, so that's what I use. Walmart has a 4 year 900 CCA AGM for $180, or a 3 year 950 CCA lead acid battery for $160. Is the extra year worth the extra $20? That's for you to decide.
  3. Wouldn't it be smart to replace the tensioner at the same time? This is my first Porsche, and I'm asking because that's common on the other cars I've owned.
