  3. Hello everyone, I recently purchased a 2002 Porsche Boxster 2.7L Base model and have been tackling some maintenance and repair work myself. It's a 5 speed tiptronic transmission. Here's a summary of what I've done so far: - Replaced the air oil separator (AOS) -Replaced the oil filler tube - Replaced ignition coils - Replaced engine and cabin air filters - Replaced the thermostat housing - MAF sensor I'm now facing an issue where the car struggles to stay alive during idle. When the RPM drops below 1,000, the engine dies immediately. It struggles to stay at 900 RPMs I've checked the oil dipstick hose and noticed the middle section is loose. I repositioned it to get a proper reading, and it shows the oil is full. I plan to drain a little oil to see if that resolves the reading, but I doubt it’s related to the idle issue. Porsche quoted me $25K for total diagnostics and repairs, which is out of my budget. Before taking further steps, I wanted to ask the community: What could be causing the idle issue? Are there common culprits to investigate first? Would a vacuum leak or failing throttle body be the likely cause? Any suggestions for diagnostics or specific tests to perform? For more context, I’ve documented my progress on this car, and you can check out my videos here: YouTube Video 1 YouTube Video 2 Your insights would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance, PorschesInTheRain

  5. Hey there, I’m actually experiencing something similar with my own Boxster! Based on your description, it’s 99% likely that the issue with your driver’s side window is related to the window regulator. Over time, the cable inside the regulator can develop slack, which causes the window to behave erratically (moving up and down on its own, not staying closed, etc.). Replacing the regulator should fix the problem. Be sure to check the cable tension before going ahead with a full replacement, but from what you’re describing, the regulator seems like the culprit. Best of luck, and let us know how it goes!
  6. Hey! Congratulations on becoming a Porsche Boxster owner! Let's break things down one by one: Coolant Reservoir Replacement: Since you've already purchased the replacement part, swapping out the cracked reservoir is a common repair. Make sure to properly bleed the coolant system after the install to avoid air pockets (which can cause overheating). Driver Side Mirror: You can find mirrors at salvage yards or online (eBay and other Porsche parts sites like Pelican Parts). Installation is pretty straightforward though , especially if you have the correct mirror cover. Passenger Brake Light & Cluster Issue: Not sure with that one, I would watch a YouTube video on those. Now for your Climate Control Unit: Unfortunately I'm terrible at wiring myself so I would get an expert that. Spoiler Motor: Very easy, so since your fuses and relays seem fine, it's likely the spoiler motor might be the issue. You could try manually raising the spoiler using the emergency release in the engine compartment to ensure the mechanism isn’t stuck. If the motor is actually faulty, then I'd replace the unit, and it’s a relatively simple swap-out. I hope this helps you along with the repairs! It sounds like you’re well on your way to getting the Boxster back to 100%, and I’m sure it’s going to be an absolute blast to drive once everything is sorted. I'm quite new to Boxster ownership. Best of luck with the repairs and enjoy your new ride!
  7. It works! You are a lifesaver, thank you so much.
