  1. Hello, I have a 2014 Cayenne Diesel that is throwing codes P2080 and P2084 - passive/sporadic exhaust temperature sensor signal is implausible on bank 1, sensor 1 and bank 1, sensor 2. I couldn't find acceptable voltages for these sensors, but they were all in the ballpark of each other. I'm thinking it could be a dirty EGR? Any thoughts on this or how to diagnose this? The EGR is buried otherwise I would just clean it and see. Any thoughts on how to proceed?
  2. I had my car alarm randomly going off. Replaced and/or tested ever micro-switch. I finally replaced the ignition switch and have never had the issue again. Weird things can happen with that ignition switch - cheap part and not too terrible to replace.
  3. It looks like you can only purchase handles in primer - and getting it painted make this pretty expensive to fix. Has anyone purchased the Chinese versions on eBay? I may order one, remove the silicone from my broken handle and try and swap over the switch so I can use my existing painted handles. Anyone try this before?
  4. Ok, so I removed the door handle and while I don't think they intended for people to take the door handle apart I did. It turns out that they embed the wires and the door switch/button in silicone. I was going to dig it out and get a closer look at the button but then I realized that the rubber boot that goes over the button has a rip. I'm pretty sure moisture got in there and ruined the switch, so I'll purchase another door handle. Here are some pic s.. .
  5. Hello, I have a 2014 Cayenne Diesel and the "Entry & Drive" buttons on the passenger side stopped working. The "Entry & Drive" buttons are the rubber buttons on the exterior door handles that you press to lock the vehicle. The driver's side buttons work fine. The front passenger side button feels like the switch is no long lined up - you can press the rubber and you don't feel it clicking. The passenger rear door button feels like the switch is still in place but perhaps isn't working due to the front door not working? Does anyone know if I can investigate this more using Durametric, or is this more about opening up the door to check it out? Can you replace just this switch or am I looking at replacing the entire door handle assembly? Thanks in advance!
  6. '98 Boxster - I need to replace the b-pillar micro switch and unfortunately I don't have the original in place to figure out how the wire runs. I've run the wire around the seat belt, and it isn't touching, but this doesn't seem correct. Does anyone have a picture of how this wire should be run? The picture shows how I've run it.
  7. Hello, I have a '98 Boxster and was hoping to get a quick win and swap out my convertible top with another used convertible top in better condition (frame and all). I missed that there is a micro switch on the B pillar and when I realized, the wiring had already moved. When I was add the "new" top, I thought I routed the wiring for this micro switch correctly, but didn't. I broke the retaining clip show in the picture with the red box. Does anyone know this part number or have a spare? The micro switch part number is 986 613 101 02 - if that is helpful.
  8. It is a '98 986 Base model - I put this in the 2nd sentence but should have started off with this info. Thanks!
  9. Hello! I was hoping this was going to be a quick and painless update - but I ended up breaking more than I fixed. I have a '98 Boxster and the original top has a plastic rear window that is fogged and cracked. My "quick fix" was to buy a used top/frame assembly with a decent plastic rear window and swap them. My top has the 3 fasteners per side plus a Philips screw per side. I was able to remove the rear defroster plug so I could slide back the frame to remove it. I wasn't aware that there is also a microswitch attached to the frame on the driver's side (left-hand drive car) and when I went to remove the frame, the microswitch wiring moved and I didn't see how it was routed previously. Other than that, removal was pretty easy. When I went to install the new-to-me top/frame, the frame accidentally pivoted while I was sliding it and I broke the mounting point for the rear defroster plug. I routed the microswitch wiring where I thought it went and once the top was installed I was testing the top. It closed beautifully, but when I went to fold it down, the frame caught the wiring for the microswitch and I'm assuming it broke the wires (need to confirm this). I wasn't thinking and continued to put the top down. Without the microswitch working, the top kept on going beyond where it should ever go - and the motor stopped working. In order to get back in there to put the top up (as it was about to rain) I had to do the "emergency" procedure to put the top in manual mode to be able to close it. I bent both arms on the convertible top transmissions and I'm pretty sure I broke the gears in the transmissions. I need to dig into this to figure out what I need to repair this but I have the following questions... Should I bent back the transmission arms or is it better to purchase used arms? When I try to activate the convertible top motor, I can hear a click but no motor running. Do people feel this is because I broke and jammed the gears in the transmissions? Does anyone know how the convertible top microswitch wiring is run? I broke the plastic clip that holds this wire in place, but can't find a part number. Anyone know what this part number is? It looks like the mount for the rear defrost plug is part of the rear corner panel that is carpeted - is this correct and I need to buy a new one of these? Thanks for any help and also if anyone has any spare parts (rear corner panel in gray carpet, convertible top frame microswitch, transmission arms) let me know.
  10. Long story short - I had my '98 986 Boxster repainted. When it was returned, the control wouldn't adjust the driver's side (LH) mirror. Upon removing the cover, I saw they didn't connect it back up, broke all the plastic tabs for the cover and only put 1 of the 3 fasteners that holds the mirror to the car. Can anyone confirm that this is the correct part number for the 3 fasteners that holds on the side view mirror? It is tough to tell from the parts diagram. 999.073.125.02 (M5 x 14 oval-head screw)
  11. Loren, I just picked up a "new to me" CDR-220 and was hoping you can help me with the code. Thanks ahead of time! Type: CDR-220 Model Number: BE4462 Serial Number: Y5042114
