  1. Did you check to see if the rubber stoppers on each side of the hood (bonnet) are adjustable to balance the gap? Sometimes you may have accidentally turned them out of balance over time.
  2. Do a Search and you will find a pretty long and informative thread here on battery options.
  3. I remember removing and reinstalling that seal when I removed my door panel one time. I think the mirror has to come off as well, but that is an easy step anyway, no big deal. No problems with the seal like what RFM mentioned though. However, pay attention to make sure the weather strip is seated correctly when you install the side mirror. I had mine pinched at one point under the mirror and only saw that after all was done, had to go way back to fix it!
  4. I say go for a 996T phillip! If you've made up your mind, the only thing left to do is spend lots of time online to look for the right one at the right price.
  5. It could also be your alternator going bad, cutting off intermittently, since the battery was only 6mths old. Then with the new battery in, it was still not being charged, if the alternator is bad. I say this coz' the last time my alternator went bad, I had similar warnings of the PSM, and Tiptronic went into safe mode (4th gear). Then followed later by "Christmas lights"! You'd be surprised how much electronics are dependent on full constant power on our cars, they can't run on battery alone for too long, probably not more than 15mins.
  6. Either you have had bad luck with old/faulty batteries, or as White987S suggested, it's how you drive your car, and how long it remains garaged. (Since the dealership has determined that there is nothing wrong electrically with the car). You don't need the "Best" battery, just a good one that range from $50-$70. You definitely don't need a $350 one from the dealership! There is a long battery thread here that is pretty informative and helpful.
  7. This is actually a pretty common fault. Hear that all the time, mine broke (disintegrated) during an oil change and was replaced.
  8. Welcome to the Porsche White Smoke Syndrome! ;) Like Richard Hamilton said, do a search...lots of info from previous discussions.
  9. Someone posted on rennlist about an inexpensive tool they got from Walmart for this job. That was the first time I've heard of a spark plug tube, that leaks oil. Is that tube where the spark plug inserts into? Would someone care to enlighten me on the mechanics behind this tube? I'm just puzzled as to how a tube with oil would have anything to do with spark plugs? Is this specific to our Porsche engines, or does every engine has them? Sorry for my dumbness, but I've never heard of nor seen such a tube before.
  10. FYI, if it helps at all...my 02 C4S currently with 91k miles, surprisingly does not burn any oil at all. The dipstick shows the exact same level from oil change to the next, a year later. I'm also using 15W50.
  11. Well, I haven't had that experience...Yet. When I floor the pedal, it does downshift hard, but not as you guys described. It's an abrupt and hard downshift (probably like 2 gears down) but it's not like clunky or anything like that. Then all I hear is WOT music to my ears! :jump: Maybe you guys got the special Porsche-Launch-Control option.... :P
