  1. I have not tried to start the car without belt on as I did not know it was ok to do so, but the noise stays on when driving and at idle
  2. Anyone have any ideas what this sound could be? Checked all pulleys , belt, water pump and all seems fine. What else can I do?
  3. boxster.MOV Hi Everyone here is the video of the whistle like noise coming from motor. Does not seem to be coming from any of the pulleys but near the throttle body?
  4. What's the best way to check aos? Thanks
  5. 99" boxster with 160k. No leaks all service up to date and no warning light. At idle I get this whistle noise which sounds like it is coming towards throttle body not sure. Check all pulleys and thy are all fine. Car drives great but once at idle the noise comes back and goes when driving. Here is a video I made I what it sounds like at idle.
  6. Yes, Item 18 would be correct. 996.106.226.52 Joining socket -- US MSRP $4.57 Loren, my connector joint piece broke, i cannot remove that gold hose clap at the bottom of joint piece.
  7. Logray, I broke the same hose while doing alternator. I cannot reomve the bottom part the the connector as it is locked tight with gold metal fastener that has no way of letting it go. Please help 2002 C2

  9. Don't have an Owners Manual? You can download it here. It is 9.5 quarts (or 9 liters) for the V8 engines. One drain at the bottom most part of the oil pan. I don't recall the wrench size but the drain plug is M18. The is a nut on the top of the oil filter housing (24 mm as I recall) or you can use an oil filter wrench. I believe it is the same oil filter wrench as used on other Porsche models. Nothing tricky or complicated here - drain, replace filter (and o-ring), new sealing ring on drain plug, add oil -- done. Oil Filter - 948-107-222-00 US MSRP $22.56 O-ring for filer assembly - 948-107-322-00 US MSRP $7.58 Sealing ring for drain plug - 900-123-106-30 US MSRP $1.39 Thanks Loren, so there are only one oil drain plug? when i went to purchase the oil filter the parts guy gave me two crush rings for two drain plugs. Just wanted to let everyone know that the nut on the oil filter cannister is 36mm and you need a shallow socket to remove it because there is not alot of wiggle room for standard size socket. You can purchase the specially made socket which most factory porsche technicians go to purchase there tools. The place is AST or Assemaucher Specialty Tools. The socket part number is( AST 2136).

  11. I two need to do an oil change on my 2011 Cayenne S. How many quarts of oil? are their two drain plugs like older Cayenne S models? and what is the size socket or wrecnch needed to remove oil filter housing? Anyone who has done this and have pics would be great.
  12. Thanks , I dont know what else it can be. Its just funny that it happened right after I replaced an O2 sensor. Checked everything but I was starting to think it could be the starter because the sound does come and go quickly once the key is let go.
  13. Just checked the o2 sensor and it is nice and snug, checked the spark plugs and they were all snug as well, but i did find that three of the passenger side coil packs had slight cracks not too deep though. Could this cause the whistle. I just replaced the coil packs and plugs no less than two years ago.
  14. 1999 boxster w/ 155K . I noticed right after changing the O2 sensor before the cats that 1 in 5 starts cold or hot starts i get a loud whistle sound when the car is started and goes away immediatley. Car drives perferct and normal after the 1 second sound at start up. The sound seems to be coming from passenger rear. Everything has been replaced on the car except fuel pump. Should i change the fuel pump by now if i see no signs of trouble? Thanks
  15. Just replaced my water pump on 99 boxster. I notices all pulley except alternator and crankshaft are wobbling and making light grinding noise. I plan on replacing all pulley's but noticed the crankshaft pulley does not move. Is it suppose to move when turned by hand? Last, the pulley for the AC there is no part number for it and looks to be held in by one gold colored bolt. Does anyone have the part number for this? Thanks all
  16. Hi Loren, took off cats and there is nothing loose but when you look through them it looks like the honey comb has moved position a bit. When the cats were on the car when you tap them you can here a can like noise but when the are off you cant hear it. So im leaning towards the cats because after putting on both PSE and stock exhaust the sam rattling noise is there coming from cats. I did have cat from another 996 go bad that u can visually see the honey comb moving around. This car has 156K on it. Noise not coming from motor so thats good. I plan on replacing cats with both new ones .
  17. I have been having rattling noise which i thought was coming from the factory sport exhaust. I took the PSE off and installed the original exhaust and the rattling was still there. I checked the PSE for anything loose or broken with soft hammer with light taps and shook them around and found nothing. SO now im thinking it the catalytic converters. Can someone post the part numbers for both left and right on a 2002 996. Thanks
  18. is there suppose to be a gap there between the hose? just bought replacement part but dont want to change if tighting is all it is. thanks for the input
  19. I just noticed a hose leaking coolant from the drivers left. In the picture it is the thin hose with the clamp with phillips scre head on it. You can see the seperation between the hose and the major connector. Any idea how to fix this or is it major. I did have the AOS replaced about a month ago and know it is on the same side. Any chance the dealer may have done something to get me back in ? I wanted to pull the hose off but wanted to make sure it would be ok first hoping there is a plastic insert that just needs to be replaced.
  20. Has anyone had any success in fixing the rattle that comes with high miles on the PSE. This is my third set on three different 996's and have read here that one person was able to have someone cut open the muffler and weld the brken baffle. I wanted to see if anyone here knew who could do this in socal and how long it would last. 02 C2.
  21. Has anyone removed the front and rear trunk release section located on the driverside door sills. My button broke off and wanted to know if it just pulls out as a whole unit in sections? 2006 Boxster S
  22. Want to replce the throttle valve on 03' 996. Do I need to disconnect the battery? And anything special need to do when putting on the new one. I see 5 torx bolts and electric plug for removal. Input would be great. Thanks
  23. HI Loren, when you say turn on ignition, not motor right? Not motor - this is before you start the car. Ok thanks, but i cleared the code this morning but still getting high revs at start up and when put into reverse and park at idle. while driving at a stop rev needle moves slight towards 900rpm
  24. HI Loren, when you say turn on ignition, not motor right?
