  2. Thanks again for all the info. It's so odd seeing everything backward from the 986 setup lol. Out of curiosity, something I've always wondered - how does the louvered engine bay cover keep water out? Does the engine bay get wet during a hard rain or isn't he a system where the water gets diverted away from the top of the engine somehow?
  3. Thanks a bunch for checking duck. It's amazing to me how inaccessible the engine is in the 996 compared to the 986. How in the world does anyone work on that motor? I would think youd need to drop the motor to work on anything under there!
  4. It seems to me like that though the Jahre 40 was touted as coming with the x51 package, it seems like they didn't do the FULL package (like the 3rd radiator was not included) so maybe the intakes are different as well. I can't wait to see what you come back with!
  5. Hey duck, I was wondering if the geometry of the resonance tube and presence of the resonance flapper valve had changed. I was mistaken and thought that pic I posted was for the 996 generation. Actually it is the 997. I did find some pics of a jahre 40th that made it look like the plenum and resonance tube setup are the same as stock, and the only actual difference was that the runners for each bank were made of the cast aluminum. Is this the same as on yours? One thing I was still unsure of though was the plenum geometry. I thought somewhere I read that the IPD plenums and Pedro's techno plenum were based on the x51 design. Funny thing about that though is that both of those plenums have been found to cost power when put on an m96 with stock cam setup (at least for the 2.7 and 3.2L). ​ Sent from my SM-G970U1 using Tapatalk
  6. Has anyone here laid hands on an m96 x51 intake manifold? I am particularly interested in the details of the two sections that cross between each bank's manifold (what we would call, on our standard intakes, the"plenum" and "resonance tube") I have found some top view pics but I would love to know what the actual layout and shape of the passageways are.   7. Hey Michael, I have a set that I just removed from my 00 base with 40k miles. They work fine, I switched to aftermarket headers. I'm not willing to separate the pair but will sell them both to you if you are interested.
  8. WD40 specialist dry lube - its a ptfe (goretex) based spray. you can usually find it at walmart. I had issues with my door ad ignition tumblers but that fixed it right up. you may want to squirt some carb cleaner (dont get it on the paint) to loosen up any gunk inside first).
  9. Ok, question about fuel injectors. Part numbers for 986 up to MY2000 are different for MY2001+. I think this is the same year that the fuel rails went returnless. Does anyone know the difference between the pre and post 2000 injectors? It looks like they probably have same flow capacity but I wonder if they are pintle vs 4 head? The cost difference is insane ($100 rebuilt vs $34 new) for old vs new style and I am wondering if they are interchangable. The wiring harness hookup looks the same, but body of injectors are slightly different. Anyone out there looked into this already, or maybe had already performed the swap? Thanks, Ike.   10. You may want to get on Amazon and but a pair of DB killers. TTGator on 986forum added them to an aftermarket muffler and it helped immensely. I'm not sure about the weight being the only favorite with drone. I drilled through the baffle plates to bypass the stock muffler chambers and got a drone (without changing weight). I think the last issue is acoustical resonance, which is only eliminated by running the exhaust through a boat anchor of a muffler! Sent from my POCOPHONE F1 using Tapatalk
  11. Disc you install coil overs? If so, it may be where the coil meets the top or bottom mount. I had a similar issue when I installed my godspeed maxx setup. OEM strut mounts are buzzfeed to prevent slipping of the spring, something that my coilovers did not have. I increased the preload on that coilover by 2 mm and then greased the contract points with silicone spray, hasn't come back since. Sent from my POCOPHONE F1 using Tapatalk
