  1. :welcome: The Sport steering wheel gets the same torque as the standard steering wheel - 37 ftlb.
  2. Size 48 is correct. After the battery has been removed the engine computer needs to "re-learn" its adaption to air density, temp and your driving style. Drive it for a couple of days and if it doesn't get better let us know.
  3. These are all Exclusive Parts that require special order from Germany. For example: 997 555 461 000 V05 --MSRP (what most dealers charge) $188.32 997 555 221 01 FSD -- MSRP $388.39 987 555 271 02 FSD -- MSRP $394.28
  4. The DME is not under the seat (that is the alarm control) it is in the rear trunk behind the carpet panel.
  5. OK so does the whole stalk assembly need to be replaced when this happens, or does something simply need to be realigned? If it is not resetting after a turn then it is likely broken and needs replacement - sorry.
  6. Perhaps, I only have schematics for 2006 and 2006 and the 997 S is different than the standard Carrera.
  7. :welcome: The fans have two speeds. One that turns both on at low speed when the coolant temperature gets to certain temperature. The second speed is high speed that turns on both whenever the AC is on and if the coolant temperature exceeds a preset level. So, whenever one fan is on - both should be on. If that is not the case check the fuses, swap the relays to confirm. If the problem still exists then you likely have a bad ballast resister Details of all these have been discussed here in other thread so try a search.
  8. I would start by using a power bleeder to completely bleed the brakes and clutch (they use the same circuit). There is a DIY in the 996 DIY section. The fact that you can not get it into gear in first makes me think the clutch slave is not opening like it should - so bleeding would be first on my list.
  9. Try 3276 or 3274 Loren: I tried these numbers and the the numbers on both sides of them. Am I out of luck and on my way to the dealer? Alan Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST
  10. When the clutch pedal gets harder that usually means there is little left of the clutch disc facing. If you want to be sure you can always flush the brake/clutch fluid. If that has no effect then you likely need a clutch.
  11. What is a "sti-r"? Here Porsche's diagram - I doubt it will help.
  12. Did you read and follow the advice in the PDF in the following thread? http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...ost&p=66804
  13. ... and in the model column M249 is Tiptronic and M480 is 6 speed.
  14. Tight enough that they don't fall out ;) I could not find a torque for those but on the hardtop they say 5.0 ftlb.
  15. Have a look at TSB 5/04 9160 CD Changer CDC-4 lnstallation Instructions -- dated Jun 25, 2004
  16. Yes, but there have been a number of updates. Here is the list - item 30. 996_alternators.pdf
  17. It was a Voluntary Recall Campaign/Service Action - so it was free. I am sure it is possible that it could be stuck too.
  18. Fault codes 12, 13, 28, 29, 40 Ignition circuit, driver's side airbag Possible cause of fault: - Short circuit to B+/ground or open circuit in the wiring between the driver's side airbag unit and the airbag triggering unit - Driver's side airbag faulty
  19. I do not know the difference but Porsche would not sell a Tiptronic version and a 6 speed version if they were interchangeable.
  20. The program in the DME. The DME can be programmed for Boxsters or Carrera's - I think you need the Carrera program.
  21. That your own personal preference. Porsche's approved oil and viscosity list is in the TSB section.
  22. 3.4 liter rev limiter is set at 7,300 RPM. Which program (Boxster?) did they use on which DME (version)?
