  1. Richard Thanks - I missed that one graphic file. We don't use group icons here so it was just a blank image.
  2. Time for a little bit of a new look. No major changes, just colors, some small style changes and slightly larger font sizes - for the older folks here (like me). Please let me know if you see any problems. Late this year or early next year we plan to have a major revision of the forum software here. This will be a major update and will have lots of new features. I will post more about the this in my Blog as we get closer to implementing it.

  5. Yes, start with Orient Express's suggestion - I was assuming that your radiators were clear of debris. For your MY car a PIWIS tester gives the same info as a PST2. Other than taking the water pump off the only other way to look for a broken impeller is to remove a couple of the big hoses on the engine and check the coolant for small plastic pieces.
  6. Chances are that your new intake had oil on the air cleaner that has now fouled the MAF and/or throttle body. Try cleaning both.
  7. Item 12 - unlighted 986.731.901.01.01C Mirror housing without illumination -- US MSRP $29.71 each

  9. Well, I doubt the wire colors would be the same on a 996 and 997. Schematics (and wires colors) sometimes change from year to year. So it is likely best to have both schematics so you can see what goes where. I will need the model and year of your 996 if you want the corresponding diagram for your 996.
  10. Center radiator is not much more than 1 US quart. Also, remember that they should be mixing 50-50 water with the coolant - so 1 quart coolant = 2 quarts of coolant mix.
  11. Sounds like you could be right - but I didn't think the wiring goes under the seat for the window - it travels up the center console to the front of the car. Could also be the microswitch in the door handle too...
  12. Those wires run through the Onboard Computer (OBC). What do you want to do?
  13. Fans should turn on (to high speed) when the AC is on. Possibilities that come to mind: - a partially broken water pump impeller - a leaking head gasket (check your oil) - temperature sensor, fan relays, should all be tested with a PST2 or PIWIS tester.
  14. If you replace just the electric switch it will likely solve the problems for years to come. If you want to upgrade to the newer style lock and switch you can do that too. It is just a much larger project.
  15. Hmm... the system has a pressure relief valve too. If your cap part number is not 01 or newer then it should be replaced. I guess you can give it a try and let us know if it works.
  16. I meant it is still possible that you have a bad water pump. You will likely know when you remove the hose. If you see gray plastic pieces (from the water pump impeller) then you should replace the water pump and flush the cooling system. Old Porsche coolant yellow/green. New Porsche coolant red/pink. Yes, Porsche coolants can be mixed.
  17. Most likely a leak. You should double check your connections.
  18. Those screw holes are slotted so there is some adjustment there. Sometimes it helps to have a second person hold the bumper where it should be while you tighten down the screws. The bumper should be even (or just slightly above) the hood height all the way across.
  19. a. It does not matter - you are checking the brake light switch. b. They are likely off if their lights are on. c. Not in my experience. d. It can occur on any 9x6 series car.
  20. You can only buy the whole housing not just the covers. I need to know if you want lighted or unlighted? (item 12) Unlighted MSRP $29.71 each Lighted MSRP $78.00 each
  21. Yes, could be ignition switch or clutch switch. If it happens again jumper the clutch switch to eliminate it.
