  1. If you put in a used cluster with more than 52 miles on it then only a certified speedometer shop can change it - dealers or shops with PST or PIWS can not. The Porsche software won't allow that. Speedometer shops can and will change it - a friend was quoted $150 for the process. As far as your warranty - they won't warranty a used cluster or anything you break putting it in. But they still have to warranty the rest of the car.

  3. Sorry, but that is BS. If it is a Porsche part and you provide proof of purchase - then they have to warranty it. They don't have to like it - but they do have to warranty it. If they don't contact PCNA.
  4. The third brake light gets it's power from the right rear tail/stoplight. Fuse B7.
  5. Have a look at the TSBs on the sunroof. There is one for a new style deflector and another for various noises.

  10. Yes, if the cluster was not previously programmed for cruise (and or OBC) then those won't work until they are programmed in.

  13. I would say the first step is to read the fault(s) that are causing the alarm beep (a beep means there is one or more faults). You need to find someone with the Durametric software, a PST2 or PIWIS tester to read the alarm fault codes. Once you have them - post them here.
  14. Yes the mechanic checked them and said they were fine. Do you think it could be the steering rack? He said it was slightly loose. The thing that really baffles me is it only happens after prolonged driving and once the car cools off, there is no noise. If the steering rack is loose then it needs to be tightened.
  15. fault 3 - Door lock barrel open, actuated for longer than 60 sec This is not likely a problem, a good chance someone tried to lock the car door with it open. fault 33 - Passenger compartment monitoring sensor faulty fault 34 - Passenger compartment monitoring sensor Short circuit to B+ or faulty These two would suggest that you still have a sensor problem either a short or some other wiring problem.
  16. No, the radiator fans do not run after the engine is off. Same with the engine compartment purge fan. If you are tracking the car it is always best to: - take cool down laps if allowed - come back to the pit area and let the car idle (fans will likely run) for at least 5 minutes.
  17. I agree this pricing is way out of line. I suggest you look for a good independent Porsche shop in your area.
  18. Hi, Can you send me the procedure? Thanks! According to the last Additional Maintenance schedule it is at 160,000 miles - so perhaps that is lifetime for most.
  19. Sorry, but you are wrong. The 986 and 996 series cars Porsche originally recommended 15W-50. Then in about 2001 they changed to 0W-40.
  20. The model year 2009 Carrera is still a 997. A 997 series 2. Porsche released a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) titled "Music Player Interface" (dated June 6, 2008) which mates most popular music players (including iPod). Part number is 997.044.901.77 -- US MSRP $394.98 But then our Contributing Members already knew that since they get access to the TSBs - including this one and it's 15 pages of factory install instructions. ;)
