  1. No, not that I am aware of. As I said before it is a programming option - that needs to be turned off. Try a local independent shop to see if they want to give this a try. They could likely sell more if they did.
  2. No, you should just need the security codes for your car.
  3. Yes, there are no guarantee that it will work - but it does when we put a Carrera cluster in a Boxster. If the tech is willing to try it - he might learn something. Let us know if this works please.
  4. He could try what I suggested - reprogram (DME) as a Turbo then reprogram back to CS.
  5. By TT I mean Cayenne Turbo. On Boxsters you can trick the DME and system into thinking it is a Carrera by programming the DME as a Carrera. Then the Carrera cluster can be programmed (while it is on a Boxster). When you are done programming the (Carrera) cluster you re-program the DME as a Boxster.
  6. I hate to say this but what may need to be done is to put the cluster in a TT program the options like you want - then put it in your car. When we put a Carrera cluster in a Boxster we have to program the Boxster as a Carrera - make all the option changes then program back to Boxster. When i have done this it usually takes about 1 hour do the conversion.
  7. Any dealer can give you a printout (not sticker) of the original options on your car. The report looks like the following. vin_report.pdf
  8. Porsche does not sell just the shift boot but Carnewal.com does. About 75 Euros as I recall.
  9. A double beep means there is a fault in the alarm system. Further diagnosis really requires a PST2, PIWIS tester or Durametric Software.
  10. Your wear sensors are not audible they are electrical and light a light on the dash. You need to look at the pads thickness to see if they are worn enough to replace. Most brake squeal is from moisture or lack of anti-squeal paste behind the pads.
  11. Fault code 21 - Ignition circuit, driver Possible cause of fault: - Short circuit to B+/ground or open circuit in the wiring between the driver's airbag unit and the airbag triggering unit - Driver's airbag unit faulty - Triggering unit for airbag faulty Has the steering wheel been off lately - it would appear that the steering wheel airbag is not connected.
  12. Hi MG88 and Loren, Thanks for the replies. However, I heard the fan(s) near the intake just behind the passenger's door ran for a brief minute or so. That was when I had the key removed from the car, door closed but car still unlocked. Well, the problem seems to have gone now and only comes back if i park in an enclosed underground carpark with very poor ventilation. Otherwise, there is usually absolutely no problem with the car. On the other hand, how may I test if the car is producing all the power it should? I tested the 0-60mph using an accelerometer and the average is around 7.2 secs. What is the avg of 0-60 and 0-400m on a 2003 2.7 Boxster? Thank you very much again for your help. Guy From the service manual... "Switch-on conditions for engine compartment fan (this fan pulls air into the engine compartment) The engine compartment fan is switched on when the engine compartment temperature is > 176 degrees F or the coolant temperature is > 216 degrees F. After-running of engine compartment fan If the ignition is switched off and the engine compartment temperature is more than 140 degrees F, the DME control module remains in readiness for another 20 minutes. During this time, the engine compartment temperature is retrieved every 10 seconds. If the engine compartment temperature is > 185 degrees F , the engine compartment fan is switched on for 20 seconds. If the engine compartment temperature is still > 185 degrees F after this time, the fan remains on for a further 30 seconds." You might check to see if your engine compartment temperature sensor has come out of it's holder and is laying on the engine. Here are some pics (in the post) from a Carrera that had that problem (Boxster is the same as I recall). http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...ost&p=35812
  13. They would always be on if you are running the AC all the time.
  14. Model and year of your car please...
  15. Did you get the serial number from the display sequence (per the FAQ)? Sure try odd numbers, if you have the patience.
  16. The microswitch is embedded in the front latch assembly. Have a look at the front latch adjustment DIY pics here. Hmm... ant other odd electrical problems? (if so, then you might have a bad ignition switch).

  20. 986.512.951.00 gas-pressure spring -- US MSRP $59.81 each

    Hi all

    :welcome:
  22. Hmm... the light switch and front lid microswitch operate through the central locking/alarm control box. I think that if the front lid microswitch is bad then the light won't come on either. Do you get a beep (alarm signal that a zone is open) when you lock the car?

  24. (Moved to 986 section) Could be a bad level sensor in the tank or a hose (in the tank) hanging up the level sensor. Another possibility would be the cluster - especially if someone changed the gauge faceplates.
