  4. I think you worry too much ;) BMW engines fail too ...and so do Jeeps and so do.... the list goes on and on. Only a small percentage of cars actually have this happen. Depending on engine speed when the bearing lets go it could just be a rattle (like a bucket of bolts) or if you the engine is at high speed then sometimes there is a bang followed by a clatter and lots of oil everywhere - but that is a rare case. If you have a warranty - that is all the more reason not to worry.

P0410 Secondary Air Injection System, Bank 1 – Below Limit P1411 Secondary Air Injection System, Bank 2 – Below Limit Possible fault cause - Secondary air injection pump is not triggered - Secondary air injection pump does not work - Air supply lines restricted - Electric change-over valve does not function - Air change-over valve does not function - Vacuum system leaking Check to see if the air injection runs at cold start up and look for loose hoses.

  9. There is very little if any lubrication on the seat rails. Step 1 would be too look under the seat with a flash light and make sure they is nothing caught or binding. If you choose to remove the seat - then do so without the key in the ignition. If you remove the seat with the key in the ignition (even in the off position) you will an airbag fault light.

  11. :welcome: Sorry, but according to Porsche TSB 5/04 4440 Winter Tire, Wheel, & Snow Chain Applications no 16" wheel fit on Boxster S. You will need 17" or 18" wheels.
  12. Control units are fused - not the airbags themselves. A PST or PIWIS can run diagnostics on the airbag system that the Durametric can not. You are sure the clock-spring trigger is not damaged on the steering wheel right?
  13. I think you need to find someone with a PST2 or PIWIS tester to confirm the fault and also run diagnostics to narrow down the fault. The airbag controller is pretty expensive (about $573 MSRP as I recall) so I would make sure before doing that. You'd hate to find a broken or frayed wire later...

  15. That is an extension to the console that the coupe and Targa have to fill in the space to the rear seats.
  16. Hi Loren, The airbag light on my 1999 996 just came on. I cleaned it the seat buckles with the contact cleaner. I live in southern california and was wondering if you knew someone who could reset the light for me? Thanks in advance. As I said in response to your PM... I know we have lots of folks down there but I don't know who has Durametric or PST2 or PIWIS testers. They should also read and you should write down the fault code(s) as those will tell you exactly where the problem is.

  22. If the key won't go in then you likely have a bad ignition switch. See the DIY in the 996 Common fixes area.
  23. There is an interlock switch on the clutch pedal - chances are it needs adjusting or is bad.
