  1. Replacing the Ignition Switch DIY
  2. I replaced the coolant temp sensor that plugs into the block...is this a different sensor that you are talking about? Thanks! Yes, if the water temp gauge was flashing (or solid on) it it the coolant sensor.
  3. If you continue to push on the Porsche crest - it will break and fall off. Push on the paint near the front edge of the hood.
  4. :welcome: Your problem is not likely the DME (computer) but more likely a faulty coolant temp sensor on the expansion tank. I would try a new sensor (about $23 US Retail) before a new DME (about $1525 US Retail plus programming).
  5. Exact model and model year please...
  6. Using the new MAF requires a PST2 or PIWIS to reprogram the DME - you do have access to one right? Bank 1 on a Boxster is the right side.
  7. P1123 Oxygen Sensing Adaptation Area 1 (Cylinders 1 - 3) - Lean Threshold P1125 Oxygen Sensing Adaptation Area 1 (Cylinders 4 - 6) - Lean Threshold This says the mixture is too rich for the DME to compensate for. Chances are there is a bad MAF or a leak in the air/oil separator. Potential causes: - Fuel pressure too high. - Fuel injector leaking. - EVAP canister purge valve open. The problem is NOT your sensors - your sensors are telling you where the problem is.
  8. As I said it would be really unusual for two O2 sensors to go at the same time. Perhaps you should double check the connectors and wiring.
  9. Has anything recently been changed on the car - very odd to have both banks and all cylinders with faults at one time.
  10. Even a PST2 or PIWIS can not change an odometer after 52 miles have been recorded.
  11. If you have a misfire then you have fault code(s). Without the fault code(s) everything is just a guess.
  12. If you can find a Bosch PCMCIA card (Hardware version 1.01 and Software version 1.02) - that is biggest obstacle. You can make a cable from parts available on the Internet. And then you get a copy of the software. PM me if you have further questions.
  13. A KTS 500 is not a PST2. A PST2 has Porsche specific software and an interface cable that different from the generic KTS 500. You can turn a KTS 500 into a PST2 (clone) with the right cable and software. There is no difference between the capabilities of a PST2 on the property hardware and a PST2 on a laptop - the Bosch I/F box for voltage inputs has always been an option.
  14. P0134 Oxygen Sensor Ahead of TWC, Bank 1 – Interruption of Signal Possible causes: – Wiring harness – Oxygen sensor – DME control module Most likely a bad O2 sensor (especially if it has 93,000 miles on it). You need to clean and or replace your MAF. You will not get a good air/fuel mix without it above 4000 RPM.
  15. Thank you to everyone I hope it's this. Is this under the drivers seat? Yes, on LHD cars it is under the left hand seat.
  16. Porsche's TSBs on "Approved" Tires, Wheels and Spacers for 996 has no 19" wheels or tires.
  17. 19 ftlbs.
  18. Loren what does the alarm module look like, I also had memory seats and I know there's a slim black box under the drivers side seat that was removed. The box should be labeled M535 (for US cars). Photo courtesy Tool Pants
  19. None of these make sense - except that the battery was disconnected. Are you sure about the windows? If you replace the battery the windows will need to be re-trained. Hold the switch in the down position an additional 10 seconds after the window is all the way down and then do the same up. The clutch switch is on the clutch pedal - just remove the wire and connect them together to bypass the switch.
  20. You need to find out what is leaking and where. If you do not feel comfortable doing it yourself then take the car to a good Porsche shop.
