  4. Isn't that because the Design Key fob only has 2 buttons and a Cabriolet and Targa have 3? But my question is can the 997.2 Targa fob be mated to the 996 Targa?No - they are different immobilizers.I was told by the dealer that a 996 Coupe fob can be mated to a 996 Targa if you give up a button (The dealer can program the second button to do what you like - just had that done), so if the Design Key fob will work with a 996 Coupe wouldn't it work with a 996 Targa (I remember reading that in your forum)? Since the Design Key and the 997.2 fob have the same electronics, doesn't that mean that it would also mate irrespective of the different immobilizer?   6. :welcome: TSB 1/05 9662 Design Key -- dated 7-29-05 specifically states "Not for 911 Cabriolet and Targa (996)."   8. I think you really want to use a matched pair of springs and shocks. Otherwise you could get shocks bottoming out or overextending. I personally would go with what Gert recommends.
  9. The springs you have are the lower RoW springs and the only springs Porsche recommends for 993 Targa. Send an email to Gert at Carnewal.com and see what he thinks. Some of options will vary by model year as the later cars can go a little stiffer without chassis problems.

  11. Thanks Loren. Sorry, but would a low battery cause the "Incident Lights" or light emitting diodes to remain lit? The windows still dip when open the car and the car still manages to turn over, eventually. Could all that happen withh a failing battery? A low battery will cause all sorts of strange electrical problems.
  12. :welcome: Please do some reading here... if you did you would know that if your alarm chirps then that means there is a problem with the alarm system. Also, the alarm horn and car horn are separate horns.
  13. Have your battery tested - both specific gravity of each cell as well as under load. This would not be the first battery to die in less than one year - that's why they have a warranty.
  14. Leave it in, as long as it is working properly, else, you will fail the SMOG / Emissions test if the light does not come on at the start/off after ignition. I have a different problem, my CEL comes on at pre-ignition, turns off after ignition, and comes back on after 45seconds or so. If the RPMs are 1100+, the light stays off. If the RPMs are at normal idle, the light comes on after 45seconds. If I rev the engine every so often (within the 45 sec window) the light stays off. Doe anybody have any ideas? You need to get your fault codes read - everything is a guess without fault codes.
  15. I don't understand what you are asking. The TT has a transaxle in that connectes to a front wheel drive axle in front via a Cardan shaft.
  16. Both are Porsche specific tools and do much more that just diagnostics. To do a full test you would again need a PST2 or PIWIS tester. You should try to find an independent Porsche shop that has one of these tools.
  17. You will need a thermometer at least. See the 996 DIY (the Boxster is basically the same except the transmission faces the other direction) - Tiptronic Transmission Service
  18. Pretty much the only thing in the circuit is the switch mounted on the transmission.
