  1. You should try re-programming the DME before replacing it. You will need a PST2 or PIWIS tester and your car's IPAS codes.
  2. The DME is under the panel near the rear window (on Coupes). DME = ECU From the Glossary (link at the top right of any page) "Digital Motor Electronics - Porsche's engine management system, the Bosch "Motronic" system, that controls both fuel injection and ignition functions."
  3. Try some Krytox or (BMW) gummi pledge on the rubber parts.
  4. Data is recorded in the DME - and can not be erased. I would get a second opinion on your transmission.
  5. 996.645.333.07 replaced 996.645.333.05. You can always try to talk your dealer into replacing it under warranty - but the car is 5 years old.
  6. From the 2001 Technical Information Book "The following components/systems used in the 911 GT2 have been modified, compared to the 911 Turbo (996): - Exhaust-gas turbochargers - Exhaust system - Charge-air intercoolers - DME control unit ME 7.8 (data record) - Intake air system - Overrun air recirculation valves - Fuel tank"
  7. Installation instructions TSB does not seem to be there - ask for it. Or, become a Contributing Member here and get access to all the TSBs.
  8. No, I do not think so. Parts list says for 996.637.041.00 - "Alarm system remote control omitted."
  9. Hey perryinva... your pretty hard on people. Where did you learn to spell??? P-O-R-S-C-H-E not Porshe!!! What, are you an idiot??? Please re-read the Board Rules/Guidelines that you agreed to when you registered here. "Name calling or harassment of any kind directed towards another member or members will not be tolerated." Back on topic folks.
  10. The Retail Price Search feature (for our Contributing Members) has been updated to reflect February 2009 pricing for the US (only). We try to update this on a monthly basis as the price lists come available to us. For February 2009 the price lists support: US: 226,736 parts Thanks again to Contributing Member Porschelibrarian!
  11. You can download a PDF of the cooling system parts list. The link is in the Links section here.

Thanks vin 9117310858 Sorry, this is all you are going to get without going directly to Porsche for a Certificate of Authenticity.

    vin

The older cars had fewer digits in the VIN. Sorry, I do not remember what year they changed. PM me your VIN and I'll see if I can find out anything about it.
  14. A loose fuel cap or bad o-ring will give a different fault code. Yes there was a US recall for older cars for gas cap issues - this would still give a different fault code.
  15. I wasn't suggesting changing everything out - I was suggesting finding the real source of the leak.
  16. 1. Why does it need a new gearbox? 2. Over revs should have nothing to do with the gearbox - unless there were missed downshifts. And, your over revs may show some signs of that. Is the car under warranty?
  17. P0446 EVAP Canister Shutoff Valve (Function) - Below Lower Limit Thanks for the diagram Loren - but I suppose this would mean that there is not chance that the shut-off valve itself is faulty? I think I'm at the point now where I strongly suspect the canister is saturated and/or the shut-off valve has failed - it would be great if I didn't have to replace both to find out. And it could be a blocked purge air line which I will check while I'm at it. I think it was you that posted some really helpful photos on that area including how to remove the canister, etc. Ken There are photos for removing the fuel canister in the Replacing the Gas/Fuel Door Actuator DIY. Chances are it is a blocked purge line or bad purge valve.
  18. Please do a search here - this has been covered many many times - with pictures too.
  19. On MY02 and newer cars it does not require changing unless the fuel tank become contaminated. From the Model year 2002 Porsche Service Information book: "The fuel filter is integral in the tank unit and no longer requires changing."
  20. 000.044.500.33 has a US MSRP of $1315.69 and 000.044.500.31 has a US MSRP of $1315.69 So that price is OVER list price - try Sunset Imports (Porsche Parts at Dealer Cost). Gert's pries (Carnewal.com) are probably the best outside the US.
  21. Get the 2WD Coupe version of the same kit. 000.044.500.33 or Get the 2WD Cabriolet version of the same kit. 000.044.500.31 I think the weight of the Targa is closer to a Cab - so I would likely get the Cab kit. You might see what Gert (at Carnewal.com) thinks too.
  22. 000.044.500.34 Is a X 74 package for: MY02-04 C4 with Tipronic. If that is not your car then please specify model year; C2, C4,C4S; and transmission type.
