  1. If your cluster came from a C4 or C4S then the gas gauge will be wrong. Those are 4WD cars and the gas tank configuration is different. If the cluster came from one of those it will need to be reset. If you want the outside air temperature then you will need to add a sensor at the front bumper. All Carrera's had this sensor so I don't recall a way to turn it off with a PST2.
  2. Please read this and follow the instructions... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST
  3. Does anyone have this picture in high res? Thank you in advance! Trieullionaire LOL - that is as "high res" as Porsche gets in their service manuals.
  4. Pretty much outlined in your Owner's Manual starting on page 287. If you don't have a manual you can download one here.
  5. Pleased read the write up - putting a Carrera cluster in a Boxster (and having everything work) requires about 1 hour of programming time. Carrera Instrument Cluster Transplant To Boxster The article is long but has ALL the information you need to make this mod work great.
  6. I don't think so - page 59 under Street Talk.
  7. What car (model and year) did the cluster come out of? or is it new? Did you read the programming procedure that Contributing Member Whall wrote up?
  8. Not likely - I would only replace them if they are damaged. They spring do nothing unless the suspension bottoms out. 996.343.301.02 Additional Spring -- US MSRP $17.77 each (1 required per shock)
  9. ... and 33 years of working on Porsches ;)
  10. If you order the Porsche kit - all parts are included.
  11. The two dots are the spring type (standard, sport, Tiptronic, 5 speed, etc.). The third dot (green in your case) is the spring compensation plate thickness. If the coil springs are exchanged, it might be necessary to use a different spring plate than before. These spring plates are color coded as follows: green dot = 6.5 mm thick compensation part; white dot = 3.0 mm thick compensation part.
  12. Sorry about your problem. First one I have heard of.
  13. Oh, I know about using 4 jackstands... I was wondering how to drive onto 4 ramps ;) I use 2 x 10's - I just drive up on a stack that goes from 1 to 2 to 3 to 4 (in steps).
  14. Look for your options sticker - usually under the front hood and in the Owner's Maintenance book. Then you can look up your options here.
  15. Please do not double post - I have deleted your second post.
  16. P0492 Secondary Air Injection System, Bank 2 - Insufficient Flow Possible cause of fault - Electrical fault in power supply or line between relay and secondary air injection pump - Secondary air injection pump relay mechanically faulty - Mechanical fault in electrical secondary air valve - Pneumatic secondary air valve faulty/sluggish - Electrical fault in secondary air injection pump - Mechanical fault in secondary air injection pump or secondary air injection pump blocked - Vacuum system leaking - Air hose to secondary air injection pump slipped off or constricted When you first start the car do you hear the air pump (sounds like a small vacuum)? If not - check to see that it's electrical connector is plugged in, check the fuse (40A fuse on relay panel 2), and then the relay (relay position 10).
  17. My bad I meant front fenders not rear - I corrected my post above.
  18. To my knowledge all the 996's came with factory rolled front fenders.
  19. If you put stiffer shocks on the rear then you will somewhat "unbalance" the car. If it were me I would go with sport shocks all the way around and keep the handling balanced.
  20. Sorry, a 5 year old battery is at least 1 year older than most batteries live. Be thankful it lasted this long. My advice is change the battery first - you need this anyway.
  21. If there are no markings then they are not likely Porsche parts.
  22. That is not an Aerokit front bumper - and if your spoiler raises and lowers then you do not have an Aerokit. (Aerokit rear spoilers are fixed - always raised).
  23. Then all the springs are likely wrong. As I said before if you intend to (potentially) re-use any parts (shocks, swaybars, etc.) you will need to get the part number off each item and compare them to the suspension option that you want. Porsche and Carnewal.com both sell some suspension packages that include everything.
  24. This process has been covered here before (if you take the time to Search). You either cut the existing bumper re-enforcement or use a Turbo one.
  25. By a competent Porsche shop. None of the "canned" chip upgrades do this (that I am aware of) - you need special programming to ignore the after cat sensors.
