  1. There should be a tool in the trunk kit to hold the pulley while you remove the nut (if not a long handled screwdriver will work too). After you remove the nut and large washer the pulley half will come off and you will see shims to use to tighten and loosen the belt. A little trial and error is needed but basically fewer shims (inside the pulley) make it tighter and more shims make it looser.
  2. :welcome: If it was factory installed - yes. It will be on the option code list under the front hood, in the option list stapled in the maintenance manual, and through a VIN search. If you do not have access to the first two PM your VIN and I will check it for you. Hey Loren I tried PMing you my vin# but it is not showing the message going through. I have the same question as the OP. My vin#WP0AB29964S685109 I sent you a reply. If you want a copy of a sent PM - you must check the box at the bottom of the send screen. Hi Loren, Just planning to make the move to buy a 996 turbo cab. Could you pls check for me if the vin# WPOZZZ99Z4S671077 has the X50 package? Appreciate you help. Thanks Since this is a special request inquiry that we use an outside resource for - we have decided to only do it for our Contributing Members. I'm sure you understand that if we didn't restrict this in some way we could end up running thousands of VINs for people that may or may not even own cars (potential purchases etc.). And, then it would be very likely that our resource would get over taxed and decide not to help us anymore. Thanks for understanding.
  3. I agree with wvicary - I would try a re-flash before replacing the DME.
  4. Perhaps some experts here will chime in... but here is what I was told. First it helps if the car has sat in the sun on a warm day, if not you can use a hair blow dryer on high speed and hot setting. It is even easier to remove if you use a heat gun, but be careful. If you have no previous experience with a tool like a heat gun, hire a detailer. You can easily damage the paint or plastic components on the vehicle. Starting on one corner, you slowly and carefully heat the film, keeping the heat gun about 8-12 inches away, doing so one square foot at a time, DO NOT KEEP HEAT GUN IN ONE SPOT always keep the heat moving around. You will notice that the film is warm to the touch, sometimes a little to warm but you just peel it off a section at a time. Lifting the edge back and pulling slightly as you go. Don't rush and it will come off perfect. Follow up with a light surface clay and a light wax.
  5. Try 0129 or 0127 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST
  6. http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=15193
  7. Please do not double post - this post is already in the 997-1 DIY section - here. This topic is closed.
  8. Without the fault codes - everything is a guess...
  9. A new DME for your car has a US MSRP of $2104.92 - so I do not know where they get $3000. And, I am sure Sunset Imports (Porsche Parts at Dealer Cost) could get a better price than the $2100. Have you checked with Bosch?
  10. Locked and unlocked the car. I didn't get the beep that i have been getting the past couple of days but i still have the same faults. You have to clear the faults - they do not clear themselves. Durametric can not clear alarm faults.
  11. Perhaps you can tell us if they are US standard or US Sport?
  12. Clear them and see which come back (after locking and unlocking). I suspect it will be fault 33 Interior sensor faulty.
  13. 997.613.139.00.FMH Combined switch -- US MSRP $75.51
  14. Porsche only sells that switch "block". So you need to tell me which options you want in the block. They all run about $75 US MSRP.
  15. It is part of the intake/emissions system and controlled by the DME - it is not on the same circuit.
  16. Me??? I'd always go for more - bigger - higher - stronger - etc., etc. It's a guy thing (as my wife says)...
  17. Yes, I think it is the same except the pulleys change for by model year and type of pulley (with free wheel lock and without free wheel lock). So if you transfer your pulley to the new alternator you should be fine.
  18. AAV = auxiliary air valve
  19. Here is the circuit that could cause the fuse to blow...
  20. 997.603.012.04 Alternator -- US MSRP $1274.62 (new) 997.603.012.DX Alternator -- US MSRP $1115.31 (exchange)
  21. Stone Guard - do you need the right side or left side or both? I need the same parts for my C2S MY07. Could you please write part numbers for both sides? Thank you. 997.504.825.02 Left stone guard -- US MSRP $42.28 997.504.826.02 Right stone guard -- US MSRP $42.28
  22. Try 2349 or 2347 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST I tried the codes. The radio doesn't come on. the #2 flashes. Do I need to press something else?? Thanks again Do I just turn on the radio and enter the #'s? Will it come on then or do I have to do something else? Thanks If you enter the 4 numbers and the code works the radio will start in a few seconds -- if you enter the 4 numbers and it does not start then the code is wrong.
  23. Find someone with a PST2 or PIWIS tester - they can run some tests to check the HVAC out. I'm in Roseville and I have both.
  24. Pretty much the same for your car - MY02 and newer 996 Carrera's use the same DME and most emissions components as 996TT.
