  1. I would choose 2 - too much oil is as bad as not enough.
  2. The clutch switch is a start inhibit at the DME - I don't think it would affect a started car.
  3. Removing secondary air pump (USA vehicles only) Undo the starter ground cable on the body. Open the spring band clamp using commercially available spring-band clamp pliers and push to the rear. Undo the three fastening screws on the secondary air pump. Disconnect electrical connection and remove pump from vehicle.
  4. I would compare it to other Boxsters - perhaps you just notice it more - or perhaps it has a bearing going.
  5. If it still does happen when the MAF is disconnected then the cause can not be the MAF.
  6. That is your air pump for emissions -- normal.
  7. Just unplug the electrical connector. The car will rev rough above 4500 RPM but that should not be needed for this test.
  8. Using a PST2 or PIWIS tester: Go to the Alarm Section -->Coding-->Version coding Then choose based on: Version 1 - The doors are automatically locked as soon as the ignition is switched on. Version 2 - The doors are automatically locked if the vehicle exceeds a limit speed of 5 km/h. Version 3 - The doors are automatically locked as soon as the ignition is switched on. If the doors are opened while the engine is running, automatic re-locking takes place if the vehicle exceeds a limit speed of 5 km/h. Version 4 - The doors are not locked automatically. (default from factory) Note: Automatically locked doors can be opened by pressing the central locking button (central locking switch) or by pulling on the door handle twice.
  9. What happens if you disconnect (unplug) the MAF?
  10. Do a search here - others have had grounding and corroded socket problems.
  11. MOST vs. wired. You will nee to change much more than the radio.

  15. Loren - I read this post and I am having a similar problem. I asked the dealer to look into it and was told that sometimes dust gets into the ABS sensors and to try and "hard brake" to see if it could be dislodged. They said that if that didn't work, I would need a $3,500. computer replacement. Needless to say, the "hard braking" didn't do a thing. Could my problem be as bad as the dealer indicated or are they just churning for dollars? The dust line was just that a line. The ABS sensors are magnetic sensors. Find someone with the Durametric software, a PST2 or PIWIS tester and have them check for fault codes and run the diagnostic test on the ABS/PSM system. It would be unusual for it to be the controller - 9 time out of 10 it is a bad brake switch or even a bad MAF.
  16. i sended to the porsche dealership and they use piwis and change the transmission oil and have the same problem. they tell me i have to get new transmission :angry: I would get a second opinion from an independent Porsche specialist.
  17. If the car is a MY07 then it is a Boxster 987-1. 987-2 started in MY09. P1640 Fault entry in specified control module Possible fault causes: - Control module is incorrectly coded - Periphery connected to specified control module is incorrect - Control module faulty (in most cases the cause is not the control module but incorrect coding!) Looks like you need to go back to the dealer/OPC and have them recode the module with their PIWIS tester.
  18. Porsche started supplying individual parts for 9x6 series transmissions about 2 years ago. Most engine parts have always been available.

  21. MY07 was gen 2 in the US also. Production of new model cars starts in August of the previous year. So, a MY07 Cayenne could have been produced as early as August 2006 - but it still would have all the MY07 features.
