  1. You likely need to loosen the tailpipe clamp and see if there is enough play there to correct the problem. If not then you will also need to loose the three 13 mm nuts on the muffler mount on that side and the cat pipe sleeve clamp. Adjust them for proper alignment then tighten them all back down.
  2. M has been used for Porsche Motor series numbers since 1980. For your car M96 is the main engine series and the next two numbers 03 designate year/hp/liters. The rest of the numbers are the serial number. Your number indicates: MY2002 - 3.6 liter - 315 HP (232 KW) engine used in the Carrera 2/4/4S

  4. Try 1042 or 1040 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST I double checked the serial# before coming back to reply, the radio info is correct. I tried 1040, 1042, 1038, 1044, 1039 and 1041 - no luck. Any suggestions? Please read the FAQ...
  5. :welcome: Yes, fourth digit 9 would be 1979.
  6. Try 0323 or 0321 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST
  7. Hi Loren, I have that downloaded and read through the whole thing. My question though is if it's safe to do just one wheel at a time since if so, the jack stand tends to be off-centered (photo). Any thoughts? Thanks. Andy No, always get the jack stands centered as you could bump the car and it could fall. I like to leave the jack and/or a wheel under the car where I am working just in case.
  8. MSRP for the oil filter for your car (996.107.255.60) is $22.28 -- so if you got charged more than MSRP then you did get ripped off. Sunset Imports (Porsche Parts at Dealer Cost) charges dealer cost +15%. ... or you can always by a 6 pack of filter on eBay (make sure they are the correct ones) for about $12-$13 each. Go together and buy 6 and share the cost with friends.
  9. Yellow/White would be the US sport suspension (M030)
  10. Changing the gear oil in the final drive is considered to be "Additional Maintenance" required every 160,000 km or 96,000 miles.
  11. Well, technically yes - it will give you the exact date. I am not sure what that does for you. I got my COA back when they only charged $35 - now it is over $100
  12. You realize that there is drain for the final drive on the Tiptronic transmission? You will need to vacuum (suck) out all the gear oil with a pump. When refilling it will take less than 1 liter 75-90W gear oil and must be done very slowly because of the baffle just inside the fill hole. 22 ftlb. on the fill plug. The crush washer does not show on the parts listing (at least not that I can find) so I would just ask your local dealer/shop as they have likely matched it.
  13. Search is your friend... Putting your 996/986/997/987 up on Jackstands
  14. Look on the door jamb. There is a tag there with the month and year of your build. This is mine - build date 5/99
  15. Try 1042 or 1040 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST
  16. From the FAQ - "CDR-23 (or later): These radios do not have a security code - that is, not that the user enters. These radios are security tested on the MOST (fiber optic bus) system to see if they are the "programmed" radio. Only a dealer or shop with a PST2 or PIWIS tester can replace a MOST bus radio (i.e. CDR-23, CDR-24)."
  17. Usually less than 2 hours. Most respectable shops have a fixed fee (barring any broken or worn parts).
  18. Only Porsche can answer that one. I do not know what all is in their VIN databases.
  19. Try 5276 or 5374 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST
  20. Pull off the interior mirror control cover to access the screws to remove the mirror assembly.
  21. Either an assembly number or misread. That part number is not in the parts list.
  22. Try 5097 or 5095 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST
  23. Optionally these cars could have TC (Traction Control ) and LSD which was a forerunner to PSM with ABD. C2's of MY98-99 were all non egas. C4's of MY98-99 were all egas. MY00 - on - all were egas.
