  2. Referencing the valve mentioned in the first post as "2. EVAP Solenoid (Shut off Valve)", and the one Loren pointed out in the DIY, is this the valve that doesn't open when there is difficulty putting fuel in the car? My car wouldn't accept fuel a few days ago. It splashed back and out as described in some of the other messages here. Standing there I remembered some of the posts about this problem, so I took my palm and pounded on the top of the fender. I heard a creaking/popping noise for about 3 seconds and then I was able to pump fuel into the car. Is this the other solenoid that Loren was referring to in the DIY about the flap solenoid? If so, is there any way to lube it or repair this "sticking" problem without changing the solenoid, or is exchange the solution? Are any special tools or precautions required for this effort? Any input anyone can provide on the solution is very welcome. A part number would help a lot if that's available. The car is a 2003 Targa. The valve that is in question item and is at the top center of the photo.

  4. No such thing as a valve cover on the M96 engine - I think you mean the cam cover. The cam covers are different on the 3.4 liter VarioCam engine and the 3.6 liter varioCam Plus engine.
  5. I see two parts in the system: 997.361.069.02 Tool for wheel bolt (M430) 997.361.161.00 Extension for tool wheel bolt (M430/M447) No images or prices yet - but there should be a parts list update in the next week or so.
  6. You can buy the schematics for $11.00 each at https://techinfo2.porsche.com/PAGInfosystem...art&lk=ELSE

  8. 996.512.985.00 Strip -- US MSRP $126.80 Try the folks at Sunset Imports (Porsche Parts at Dealer Cost) for a much better price.
  9. The only relay is the intermittent wiper control relay - position 16. The only two fuses are C6 and C9. If all those are okay it is likely the pump.
  10. Check out the latest End of Summer Maintenance Specials from Sunset Imports (Porsche Parts at Dealer Cost). They have special pricing for RennTech.org members on oil filters, air filters, pollen filters, and Cayenne brakes. Be sure to tell them you are a RennTech.org member. Just click the link below... 11. Both sides are on the same fuse. So, if the one side works then it is not the fuse. I would start checking for a corroded socket or bad ground on the non-working side.
  12. Um... right behind the license plate/bumper area.
  13. There is only the control unit and the two connectors at the rear. One connector is shared with the license plate lights and the other goes to the main harness. Look for corrosion and or damaged pins.
  14. If it is on the same car it should be 915.61 5 speed and the transmission number should start with 719. I don't think G50 started until 1987 so if it has a G50 someone upgraded. In that case the transmission number would start with G50, or 73H, or 74H.

  16. :welcome: Sorry, without fault codes - everything is a guess. Any good mechanic will tell you that. Beg, borrow, or buy a tester and report the fault codes back here and we will try to help.
  17. :welcome: Please give our Search a try - most common issues have been covered here before. Have a look at this - Adjusting Hood Latch Mechanism
  18. There are two pumps - one for each. There are not too hard to check - most common problem is a hose coming off. You can access the pumps and connections by removing the left front wheel and the wheel well liner. All the pumps, tanks, etc. are in the upper fender.
  19. Selling dealer may not know much - "yellow brake calipers" - instead of PCCB brakes. Also, doe not mention the Aerokit.
  20. :welcome: 659 should be a 3.0 liter 1979 engine as used in that year's 911 SC.
  21. Well, somehow that car wash managed to spray the engine and most likely the alternator. Both sit lower on a Porsche so perhaps the undercarriage wash got them.
  22. Nothing to tighten - the 996 uses a self-adjusting tensionor pulley. You can try belt dressing - but I would remove the belt and make sure all of the pulleys are okay.
  23. Try 2417 or 2415 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST
  24. That covers the cables for the shifter under the center console. Some were green and some black. If you install a short shifter (Porsche or B&M) then that part is not used.
  25. Check fuse B10. Do you have the stock rear lid or an aftermarket spoiler?
