  1. On the later modeles there is a lower dash panel or dict that needs to be removed. Then you kind of have to position yourself under the dash and reach the screws.

  3. All can be DIY projects. The exhaust needs to come off to get to the water pump - but I would wait for the tailtell small leak first. Clutch accumulator is not hard other than it is tough to get to. It is up high on the transmission so you need long arms or a lift to make it easier. The clutch on a 996TT uses Pentosin and is a separate circuit from the brakes. PM member Porschelibrarian - he can get manuals at a discount.

  7. Yes, the intermediate shaft on few turbos have failed. Nothing close to the normally aspirated 996 and 986 cars. As a matter of fact microscopic in comparison. Check the hose on a car that old and be prepared to replace the water pump and clutch accumulator. Everything else should be standard maintenance. Get a PPI on the car and if you can buy a warranty - no one rally know what a cars previous owner did right or wrong.

  9. Speedometer Output should be a White/Violet wire off of pin A3 of the instrument cluster. "Please post your messages in one forum only.   10. For 3.6 liter engine with no loads switched on (no AC), Engine temperature greater than 90 °C, and Ambient temperature 20 °C. Idle - 16-20 Mass air flow ML in kg/h No load at 3000 RPM - 60-80 Mass air flow ML in kg/h So if your conditions are as spec'ed above you are a little low at idle and you need to re-measure at 3000 RPM.

  12. Check the coils by measuring the resistance. Any coil(s) that are very different from the others are likely bad.
  13. Can you have it read with the Durametric software or a PIWIS tester - those codes do not come up in my listing?

  15. All 996 series C4S are wide bodies. All 996 series C4 are narrow bodies.
  16. If the car runs then the fuse is not blown. I suggest you try another tester (like a PST2 or PIWIS tester).

  19. That is correct if your car is a V6 or S. If your car is a Turbo then they get a two piece grille.

  21. P.S. Don't let LN/Raby find out that simply adding an extra quart is AOK...such advice negates the value of their $300 kit to add only 0.5 qt., see here. Two different approaches. Jake's kit (as does the B_K kit add a small extension to sump (lower the engine) and provide oil at the pick up point. While overfilling is just that 'overfilling'. You can usually tell an overfilled car at the track by the smoke they emit coming out of every turn.
  22. Again - What did you use to get that fault code? The chime is likely a set point on the OBC for speed control.
