  1. Replacing the Ignition Switch
  2. Read the DIY on replacing the ignition switch. You can find it in the 996 DIY - Common Problems section.
  3. As I have posted here before those manuals are not legal copies and they are woefully out of date. Not to mention they only have a few of the 99 updates for the 9x6 series manuals. Please re-read the board Guidelines/Rules here about posting links to copyrighted materials that are not your own. Your link has been removed.
  4. They only show you the general sections for free. The content is the real manuals - but, at $1.80 per section and several thousand sections per manual I would not recommend buying a manual this way. Ok, for quick needs/got to haves but not realistic for a manual set. BTW... TSBs are there too (by make, model and year) - but they are $1.80 each and again their can be several hundred for your car. Also, you don't know the reliance until after you buy and download it. Personally I preferred when they sold this information on CD - at least it was gathered into a logical form. If they would sell downloads like that I would sign up in a minute.
  5. P0420 Catalytic conversion Possible fault causes - Oxygen sensors in front of and behind catalytic converter swapped (position in exhaust assembly) - Valve lift error - Aged oxygen sensor behind catalytic converter - Catalytic converter faulty (pre-catalytic conversion rate too low) You could have a damaged cat.
  6. Item 18 - 955.613,250 00 Printed circuit board -- US MSRP $59.97 Item 22 - 966.612.501.00 Wiring harness -- US MSRP $41.46
  7. The DME is main control unit. If you change the throttle map - you are changing other things (spark advance, valve/cam timing, etc.) as they are all controlled by the DME program. I doubt Porsche would tell us specifically what it does - because then people would try yo copy it.
  8. What do you mean by not start? It does not crank? or It cranks but does not catch and fire?
  9. Porsche Certified Pre-Owned You can download the brochure here
  10. 1. Remove the cluster (described in much detail in the posts you mentioned). 2. Pop the glass off the front of the cluster. 3. Clean. 4. Reverse process.
  11. I think the switches themselves are mounted on the printed circuit boards (i.e. 18, 19, 20).
  12. Item 9 - 955.613.317.00.6N3 Cap with symbol (black matte) -- US MSRP $22.49 Item 10 - 955.613.327.01.A03 Trim for switch (black) -- US MSRP $35.98 Item 11 - 955.613.329.00.A03 Cover (black) -- US MSRP $14.02
  13. I would reset the fault and see if it comes back - if it does then it likely needs to be replaced.
  14. Have your dealer/OPC try re-programming the lights control module.
  15. No, as I said before it is a vent.
  16. All cars have the hose. If the hose is not there then it fell off or was removed.
  17. Search for other similar posts - sounds like you accidentally disconnected the lock lever.
  18. The tube is just a vent - it is meant to be open. If there is fluid coming out of your power steering tank vent - then it is likely overfilled. If the cap is leaking then try a new o-ring on the cap (unless the cap is cracked or damaged). 999.701.154.40 O-ring -- US MSRP $8.06
  19. Porsche says: 999.170.207.91 Spark Plug 14FGR 6KQU -- US MSRP $18.98 each I am sure you can get the same plug for less elsewhere.
  20. Read the Porsche Service Technik book linked (pinned) in the Contributing Members forum.
  21. Because once combustion starts the chamber is heated that helps with combustion. Re-fill the tank and see if it gets better over a week or so.
  22. Yes! -Maybe fuel injector ???? No, I don't mean fuel injector I mean bad gas. Highly unlikely that all 6 injectors would be bad.
  23. What do you mean by not starting? Turns over but does not fire up? If so, my first suspect would be gas.
  24. PM member Porschelibrarian. Bentley only makes a Boxster Service Manual.
