  1. Find someone with a diagnostic tool like the Durametric software, a PST2 or PIWIS tester and have the car scanned for faults. Report those faults back here... then we can give advice.
  2. The Retail Price Search feature (for our Contributing Members) has been updated to reflect November 2009 pricing for the US (only). We try to update this on a monthly basis as the price lists come available to us. For November 2009 the price lists support: US: 236,541 parts Thanks again to Contributing Member Porschelibrarian!
  3. http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...ost&p=31928
  4. I think those are stepper motors - so without the control unit you would have wire up your own pulse generator. Good luck on that...
  5. Please use our Search - P0430 has been covered many many many times. Search for "P0430"
  6. Try 2434 or 2432 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST
  7. Folks - Porsche content only here - please!
  8. Hi Loren, I'm wondering how can we identify if the PCCB is Gen1 or 2? Thanks By the model and year of your car.
  9. It is OBC as in On Board Computer as opposed to OBD which is On Board Diagnostics. Yes, on a MY98 996 turning on the OBC with a PST2 or PIWIS tester will display the default outside temperature in the display.
  10. Amps changed brand and outputs over the years - so you will need to be more specific as to what amp from what model and year car.
  11. There is no "normal" number. Stage 1 overrevs are unimportant as those are handled by the rev limiter. Stage 2 over revs are usually caused by missed shifts (downshifting from say 4th to 2nd) and spins. These are forced overrevs where the engine can be damaged. The perfect number here is zero but it is not uncommon to see a numbers in the low hundreds. I would be concerned of abuse with any stage 2 number over 1000. That will vary on how in-depth the inspection is - if you gt compression test of each cylinder then that requires removing the intercoolers and is more labor intensive. I would say $200-$500 are about average -- and you should get a written report.
  12. No a 4 spoke airbag is a different shape than a 3 spoke. You will need both a 3 spoke wheel and 3 spoke airbag.
  13. 1. Yes. 2. Just follow the instruction in that link and you should be fine.
  14. Try our Search... Search for P1340
  15. You will need the engine serial number - it will start with M96/ For example: (image courtesy Tool Pants)
  16. For that model year Porsche only sells the whole switch assembly. If you do not want to pay ~$455 for a new switch assembly try a salvage yard or eBay.
  17. Try 9638 or 9636 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST
  18. Try 4782 or 4780 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST
  19. Gas door won't stay open and the link in that post shows how to fix it.
  20. Got it. So when you say check should I look for wear, leaks ??? Would you guys recommend a fair online source for parts. BTW Pretty cool to post without any sarcasm as a reply. Great forum I'm off to donate. Thanks Well the spring and or piston (on the valve) could be sticking or bad. This was a (TSB corrected) problem on some 987's but I had not heard of it on a 997 yet. This sure sounds the same if it only happens when the oil is cold.
  21. Not good... I think you need to hook up a PIWIS and see if the control unit is working.
  22. Left fuse box F42? Do the blinds work as they are on the same power circuit?
  23. CAN is in several control modules - I think you will need to disconnect the battery then reconnect it a few minutes later.
  24. The missing option type from the DME is an old common problem that every dealer should have know about. You might want to consider using a different dealer...
