  1. You can download the schematic from Porsche for about $11.00. Porsche PIWIS TSI
  2. Yes, many have. Do a search here for detailed descriptions. No wiring in the harness unless your car was ordered with PSE. Only one wire needs to be run from the engine to the dash. Or, some folks do not use the switch as the PSE default to always open (loud). Yes, in the TSBs for Carrera 996. Yes, you take the tips off your old mufflers and put them on the new PSE mufflers. Not usually. The switch is sold seperately but otherwise everything you need comes in the PSE kit. (again see the TSB for a list of parts)
  3. It should have 3 wires: 1 Red 1 Brown 1 Bray/Blue
  4. Did you look behind it to see if you can find the connector? This is part of the car's wiring harness so they either cut it and used it for something else or left it dangling in the dash.
  5. Did you check the fuse?
  6. Try 6856 or 6854 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST Those two codes # did not work, if I can't get it to work then I'll just replace it. Will the radio just start working once the codes have been entered. The car is a 1999 Boxster 2.5 US, LHD 5spd Silver with dark blue interior, not sure if that helps. THANKS Yes, the radio should work if you get the right code. Please read the FAQ.
  7. :welcome: Two beeps means there is a fault in the alarm/central locking system. One beep means here is at least one zone open. If you are getting two beeps you need to find someone or a shop with the Durametric software, a PST2, or PIWIS tester to read the alarm fault codes.
  8. there are many types of coolant caps to choose from for the 987s. some has different parts numbers, colors etc. could you tell me which part number is your new replacement? thanks mate. No - there is only one approved coolant cap for your MY06 Boxster - 996.106.447.04 Cap -- US MSRP $22.09

  12. Sorry, an alarm fault is usually a problem that needs to be fixed.
  13. :welcome: You will need to: 1. Turn on the OBC using a PST2 or PIWIS. If you give your location perhaps another board member with a tool will do this for you. If you are near Roseville CA I can do it for you. 2. If you want the other features (other than outside temperature) you will need to add the 4th stalk or a dash switch. Do a search here for OBC as this has been covered in great detail.
  14. What does the temperature read when this happens?
  15. I think you need a dealer with a PIWIS to investigate this problem and the rear lid problem you have.
  16. I change my oil at roughly half the recommended interval. Not because I want to waste money but because my car is driven hard and then may sit for a week or more. So moisture and contaminates are your oils enemy. It is very cheap insurance (IMHO) to change your oil before the recommended schedule.
  17. Yes, Porsche changed from 15,000 miles on the 996 to 20,000 miles on the 997-1 and then back to 10,000 miles on the 997-2. Read some of the problems Mercedes and Toyota have had with long oil change intervals and engine damage caused by sludge. Both have had class action lawsuits. Whether you drive a Toyota or a Porsche I don't really think you want to go too far or too long between oil changes.
  18. No, the 997 front bumper is slightly different. See the thread here or here.
  19. Sorry, I can not agree with that statement. Maintenance is the same - power differences are minor and interiors are not much different in quality. Design differences - yes, but quality no.
  20. Try 5492 or 5490 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST Those codes did not work, PLEASE read the FAQ.

  22. Has the car had TSB W331 - Auxiliary Heater Cannot Be Programmed performed? This should have been a no charge replacement.
  23. Try 1183 or 1181 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST
  24. I would put a PST2 or PIWIS on the car and check the Variocam on that side.
