  1. I change my MY99 after 5 years - they looked and ran okay but there was some corrosion on the electrical contacts. If the car is late MY99 then the oil tubes are likely the newer design. Either way if they are not leaking then I would leave them alone.
  2. Different headlights, two control modules and likely some programming. And it also looks like headlight wiring harnesses must also be changed. Looks like it might be possible - but expensive (headlights are $1140 each, and control modules are $362, and $300).
  3. Well, not much for 997-2 service manuals yet. From PET it almost looks like they can be removed by rotating them - perhaps 1/4 turn or so. Be careful to not force them. On the 997-1 you had to remove the bumper cover and take the whole nozzle body off.
  4. As dark colored as your car is - it might just blend in.
  5. Your profile says 03 C4S but you are asking here in 997-2 - so please which car?
  6. You are asking the wrong guy about sound - when I wanted a better sound for my Carrera I put on a Porsche Sport Exhaust. :D I am sure other members here can give you some good advice though...
  7. did you look in your Owner's Manual? ;)
  8. If it is a US/Canada car then the driver and passenger airbags are standard. The car also has a built-in rollbar. The alarm was an option on some Boxster but almost all have it. Look for option 535 on the sticker under your front hood. Frankly, your insurance company (and agent) should know better.
  9. Not sure what you are asking - which cylinder? Easy way to renumber (at least for me) is that the belts/pulleys face the front of the car on Boxster or Cayman and they face the rear of the car on Carrera (as well as TT, GT2, GT3).
  10. Most of this is covered in the DIY here. Most folks find it easier to reach by removing the left rear wheel (that is what I do).
  11. 987 (as well as 986) and 997 (as well as 996) are the same basic engine - so they will all work. Remember the engine in a Boxster or Cayman is turned 180 degrees from the 997 series. There are hundreds of fault codes can trigger a CEL. Best to have the codes read with an OBD II compliant reader and report back here. I am moving this topic to the Cayman (987C1) section.
  12. Tip gets a transmission cooler. Aerokit/X51 get a 3rd radiator for the engine. If the bumper cover is like the 996 version then you can always leave the center block plate in place.
  13. A MY2000 would not have BOSE at it came out in MY2002. MOST is fiber optic wiring that cam out in MY2003. Your amp (if you have one) should be in the front trunk on the right side next to the spare tire. Check your option codes (on the sticker under the front hood). If it does not say M490 or M680 then you do not have an amp.
  14. 997.505.191.02 Standard front bumper cover (prime coated) -- US MSRP $1090.52 997.505.961.01 Aerokit front bumper cover (prime coated) -- US MSRP $1090.52
  15. OOPS! I was viewing the diagram as rear-to-front, rather than the other way around! It should be that huge p/n 1, and yes, I'll need the complete bumper cover. Thanks again. 997.504.527.02 Main cover -- US MSRP $122.37 For the front bumper I need to know 6 speed? and headlight washers? Oh, perhaps this would be a good time to upgrade to the Aerokit front bumper?
  16. Yes, item 7 covers the transmission. 997.504.429.01 Transmission cover -- US MSRP $102.18 Bumper cap? Do you mean the complete bumper cover?
  17. Can you ID the part in one of these diagrams?
  18. :welcome: Please do a search here as others have broken the turn signal stalk also. Sorry, but you will need to replace the broken stalk.
  19. Your oil tubes are likely the old design and need to be replaced along with the o-rings. There was a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) on this in 1999. If you do a search for "oil +tubes" you will find that this problem and solution has been discussed here in detail several times.
  20. :welcome: You will need to tell us whether it is a US/Canada car or RoW.
  21. If you track the car I would replace them. If not, you will likely need them the next pad change.
  22. Yes, you need to the ground to get it to switch. And, yes it sounds like a bulb.
  23. One of the chassis grounds should be fine.
  24. Oil level comes in on the blue connector. So, my guess would be that the connector is not fully seated (most common) or the wire is pinched. Did you do the ground wire also?
