  2. A good shop (or dealer) will try to reprogram your old key first and if that does not work you buy a new key (or have one on hand).
  3. Only place I know where you can get PCM codes is a dealer/OPC. Sorry.
  4. I suggest you do some research first on whether the new style PCM will work in your car. Go to the TSB section for Cayenne and search for the Cayenne TSBs for "PCM". About 23 TSBs as I recall, including parts lists.

  12. I did that on my 76 911S. You will need to buy the stainless steel plugs for each cylinder and then the rest is just removing the tubing and pump. The plugs screw in where the tubes were and provide a good cylinder seal. I think I put Loctite on them too as I recall.
  13. Perhaps it was their scan tool not your port? Where are you located perhaps someone on the board here can read your codes for you?
  14. That will depend on how bad the leak is. Usually it will start dripping when the engine at operating temperature. Let the car sit for about 5 minutes then have a look for the source of the leak. Ramps should be fine.
  15. Most of the ones sold at major outlets (like Sears, Lowes, etc.) are good. My favorite is the Torin - low profile, light, and great quality.
  16. Ok, that's for the Leakdown Test. Any idea what the compression readings should be on a standard Compression Test??? I'm also asking for a 2000 Boxster S. The important factor in a compression test is the difference between cylinders. Since you are looking at different cars with different mileage they are not going to wear the same. It would be highly unusual to find a car with all cylinders reading low (which would usually mean badly worn rings) - it just does not happen much anymore. What is more likely is a cracked cylinder head, or a cracked cylinder sleeve or other valve, head or piston problems - on one cylinder. So if you test all the cylinders and they are within 8 to 12 percent of each other - then all is good. If you find one cylinder that is much lower than the others then you have a problem in the cylinder (head, valve, etc.).

  18. If you are going to do this I suggest you identify what the sound turned out to be. Otherwise it is a database of "unknown" sounds.
  19. Like with any oil leak after it has been there a while its hard to see the point of origin. I suggest you clean on the oil, dirt, etc. off - then take the car for a short drive stop and immediately try to locate the point of origin for the leak. A bad RMS or IMS seal will leak from the point where the engine and transmission are joined.

  21. Do not buy another new or used remote unless it has the 40 digit security code for programming. Without that code the key is useless.
  22. No not really. If the cable is stretched or worn it should be replaced (before it locks you out).
  23. F9 on the current distributor (80A). The current distributor is behind the glove box.
