  2. If you have the console out the leather side panels just pop off. They are help on with the same clips that hold the shift boot.
  3. 1 - EVAP canister purge valve 2 - EVAP canister 3 - Purge air 4 - Tank 5 - Pressure sensor 6 - Shutoff valve 7 - Operating purge valve 8 - To intake manifold 9 -Vacuum control valve I sent you some troubleshooting...
  4. if the canister housing is damaged it should be replaced.
  5. US MSRP $196.17 -- I'm sure the folks at Sunset Imports (Porsche Parts at Dealer Cost) can do better pricing.
  6. :welcome: Not a lot of info in the early cars VINs. The first series of numbers ran from 68-69 and were comprised of a total of 8 (or 9) digits. The first two digits would tell the group, the third would reveal the year and the fourth would tell the exact model. The last four (or five) numbers are sequential build numbers. An example would be 11802321. This is a 11 – (911) 8 – (1968) 0 – (Coupe, S version) 2321 – Sequential Build Number
  7. Lot's of possibilities depending on the sound. Does it vary with RPM? Polyrib belt pulleys can make sounds just before they fail. So can the water pump. Perhaps post a recording of the sound?
  8. Try 9265 or 9263 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST
  9. Two reasons - one because most US states don't allow you to completely remove the cat. Two - because US/Canada cars are using (software and) sensors before and after the cat. So unless you reprogram a US car you will get a CEL (and faults).
  10. Yes, read the FAQ like I asked.
  11. No there is not. Both the Climatronic and cluster changed in MY02. All signals are now on CAN at that point. The HVAC temps, flap positions etc are through HVAC sensors - all engine readings come from the instrument cluster. If you hook up the Durametric software, a PST2 or PIWIS tester you get these and many many more.
  12. Try 8375 or 8373 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST
  13. :welcome: P0420 Catalytic Converter Conversion Too Low (Cylinders 1 - 3) P0446 EVAP Canister Shutoff Valve (Function) - Below Lower Limit P1126 Oxygen Sensing Adaptation Area 1 (Cylinders 4 - 6) - Rich Threshold Look for a vacuum leak (EVAP line to canister) or other air leaks. If you find something correct it and then reset the codes to see if they come back.
  14. I would check the pulleys. Where did you get the belt? as it factory?
  15. Model and year of your car please?
  16. P1316 Misfire, Cylinder 4, Emission Relevant P1317 Misfire, Cylinder 5, Emission Relevant P1318 Misfire, Cylinder 6, Emission Relevant P1319 Misfire, Emission Relevant Possible causes: - Fouled, faulty or incorrect spark plugs - Contact resistance - Loose contacts - Camshaft control poorly adjusted Perhaps your CEL is burnt out?
  17. Headlight adjustment is covered in your Owners Manual.
  18. Even though this DIY is for the 996 - the polyrib belt goes on the 986 the same way. Changing the Polyrib Belt

  20. Even when they work!
  21. :welcome: The engine in the Turbo cars is completely different from the engines use in the Boxster, Cayman, and Carrera cars. The engine of the 997TT is an evolution of the 6-cylinder Boxer engine from the 911 GT1 and original 911 Turbos (air cooled cars).
  22. You are looking at a control unit and three wire harnesses. Since all Porsches are custom wired you would need to run all the wiring from the rear bumper - part the engine and to the control box (under the drivers seat as I recall).
  23. kbrandsma - you are welcome. BTW, that is a great price from Sunset. I paid more than that in 2001
  24. As I recall... oil filter side - so that would be the right case half side.
  25. A dirty or damaged air cleaner will let larger particles of dirt into the direct flow of the MAF. An oiled air cleaner can contaminate the MAF with oil (when over oiled) and most of the oil type air cleaners allow larger particles to pass than the factory air cleaner. Try using MAF sensor cleaner on the MAF - if it only dirty this should cure the CEL. If the MAF is damaged then you have no choice but to replace it.
