  1. hi it has a carrera sign and my 996 is 2000 model Thant would make it a Carrera (2 wheel drive). 3.4 liter engine - about 300 HP.
  2. :welcome: I would not call it common but it is not unheard of. Many thinks can cause an oil seal to leak. Defective seal, drying of the seal because of non use, over filling the car with oil, etc. Since it is being fixed under warranty there will be a record at Porsche should anything come up in the future and the repair should have the remainder of the cars current warranty or a 2 year warranty on the work performed.
  3. Page 291 of your Owners Manual... Page 191 of your Owners Manual... "Antifreeze in coolant: 50% gives protection down to –31°F/–35°C 60% gives protection down to –58°F/–50°"
  4. Service light? Is that a CEL or what? Common causes of both CEL and ABS/PSM lights all being on are: brake light switch bad (check your brake lights) bad MAF or some other problem that will require a fault code reader to diagnose.
  5. :welcome: P0016 Position of crankshaft in relation to intake camshaft Possible fault causes: - Camshaft sensor faulty (internal phase shift) - Solenoid valve for camshaft adjustment soiled (does not close fully) - Timing set incorrectly Since your car is likely still under warranty I would let the dealer/OPC fix the issue.
  6. It is okay we have re-published (with the authors permissions) articles from Excellence Magazine.
  7. Try 8376 or 8474 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST
  8. In the DIY Tutorial section http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?/tutorials/article/56-cabrio-top-hydraulic-fluid-step-by-step/
  9. Try taking the faceplate off and cleaning the contacts.
  10. You will likely have to remove the seat to check that. If you do be sure to remove the key from the ignition while the seat is out - or you will get an airbag light.
  11. I would have to do it again to remember the exact sequence but here is what I recall. Make sure the order type is set in the DME. If it is not then set it - exit PST2 - turn the car off. Reconnect. Set the OBC on in the cluster (2 places - I can't recall - perhaps one in the DME too). Depending on what where you live you may not want to defeat emissions stuff - in the US there are federal laws about that (racing is exempt). It can be done with IPAS codes and a PST2 or PIWIS tester. Takes about 30 minutes.
  12. Something jammed under the seat?
  13. :welcome: The wipers not returning is likely a either a loose wiper nut on the arm or one of the linkages is loose. Both are fairly easy to check. Check the relay before you replace the stalk.
  14. Try 5384 or 5382 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST Hmm...it's a no go. Thanks for your help though. Did you read the FAQ?

  16. Try 9073 or 9071 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST
  17. As stated here before you will need: All working keys (with good batteries) Any new keys with their 40 digit unique number tag Your car's (by VIN) unique IPAS codes (get there from your dealer after proof of ownership) a PST2 or PIWIS tester to do the programming. If you have everything together a 'good dealer' or 'good shop' would charge you only about 1 hour labor to do this.
  18. PCM1 and PCM 2 are totally different - made by different companies for Porsche. Most folks that have PCM 1 end up doing a less expensive upgrade by removing PCM1 and replacing it with a 3rd party NAV system. Do a search here as several folks have described their process.
  19. Use a good ohm meter. Resistance between terminal 1 and terminal 15 at 20° C 0.3 - 0.7 ohms.
  20. Try 5072 or 5070 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST
  21. I have added a new Videos section where folks can post links to YouTube (and a few other sources) videos. Members and Contributing Members can now add videos. I have set it up so that all videos must be approved by a Moderator or Admin. Feel free to add any videos you would like. I took the liberty of posting three GT3 rally videos that Craig sent me as they are a great! As well, I took the liberty of adding a DIY video on the front bumper removal that Contributing Member JeTexas did a few months ago. Several folks have told how great this video is. If you feel there are any specific categories we need to add - I am open to suggestions. Any other comments or suggestions are welcome... Special thanks to both Tool Pants with the DIY videos that he and Henry made years ago and to Craig for for sending me those rally videos - they all got me thinking about doing this again.
  22. I have not tried setting that with the Durametric. I have a PST2 and a PIWIS so I use them most of the time.
  23. :welcome: The GT3 clutch and flywheel will not fit. Although the body styles look very similar the GT3 engine is completely different from the 997-1. GT3 uses the same engine as the 997TT - but without turbo-charging.
  24. You need to take the whole air cleaner out of the car first. Then disassemble it. Take the large hose clamp off and disconnect the MAF sensor cable. Remove the single bolt/mount (at the rear of the car) and lift the air cleaner out. Be careful to not lose the the rubber aligning/positioning bushes from the bottom of the air cleaner.
