  1. Have a look at the DIY Tutorial Replacing the Gas/Fuel Door Actuator
  2. :welcome: This has been covered many times here. So a search is advisable. P0455 Fuel Tank Ventilation System (Major Leak) - Below Lower Limit Possible causes: - Tank cap missing. - Ventilation lines detached from EVAP canister. - Ventilation line detached from tank. - Ventilation lines detached from operating vent valve. - Ventilation line detached from fuel tank vent valve. - Break in ventilation lines.
  3. Check your brake lights - they can also cause both lights to come on at the same time. If your brake lights do not come on then that is the problem - start with the pedal switch and if that is okay check the grounds on the rear lights.
  4. Yes, there is some minor programming that needs to be done with either a PST2 or PIWIS tester. There are several members in the bay area that have PST2s and could help. Or if you are over my way I can change it for you.
  5. You might have better luck posting in the "911, 912 (1965-1989) Series" forum. Isn't that where this is? It looks like it to me - but maybe I'm missing something? Did I post incorectly and a Mod moved it for me? The breadcrumb says: RennTech.org Forums> Older Model Porsches> 911, 912 (1965-1989) Series> 911, 912> Key Won't Lock From Drivers Dorr I moved this post to the proper forum.
  6. They are interchangeably called PM, Messenger, and Conversations. Just go to your personal drop down list near your login name and click Messenger.
  7. Hello Porschelibrarian, I m interested in getting the POSES and a few work shop manuals. Please e mail me. Thank you. Bob You need to send him a PM.

  9. Same solutions gas cap seal, vent lines for P0455. And - heavily soiled throttle, throttle adjusting unit faulty, and MAF faulty for P1101.

  11. If you buy through the RennTech.org Store at Amazon we get a small percentage. Thanks... Porsche Boxster Service Manual: 1997-2004 Boxster, Boxster S (Robert Bentley)
  12. Loren ~ Would love to be able to network with other local owners.... Would love to see a geographically defined owner group forum, Ex. Northeastern, Southeastern. Mid-West, etc. and by definition the group will be able to identify the states included in the group. Perhaps a differnent topic? (forums instead of Registry) Like Rennlist does? Their regional forums don't seem to get much traffic (other than Canada).
  13. Adding a tab and letting folks input their club is easy. Searching is more difficult because some might mistype or abbreviate names. Matching would be problematic. We could do a drop down list but that would require that I know all the possible clubs for the list. We'll take a look at this for the next version - I am open to suggestions.
  14. OBD II is kind of funny - it is always trying to compensate or wait before it throws a fault code. In that sense it is good - if you get a fault code with OBD II then you very likely have a problem.
  15. Depending on the year of your car - yes there is bolt and seal upgrades. These are for leaks not durability.
  16. Switch-on conditions for engine compartment fan (this fan pulls air into the engine compartment). The engine compartment fan is switched on when the engine compartment temperature is > 176 degrees F or the coolant temperature is > 216 degrees F. After-running of engine compartment fan If the ignition is switched off and the engine compartment temperature is more than 140 degrees F, the DME control module remains in readiness for another 20 minutes. During this time, the engine compartment temperature is retrieved every 10 seconds. If the engine compartment temperature is > 185 degrees F , the engine compartment fan is switched on for 20 seconds. If the engine compartment temperature is still > 185 degrees F after this time, the fan remains on for a further 30 seconds. Engine Compartment Temperature Sensor - item 12
  17. Try 1689 or 1687 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST The best way to get the serial number is the electronic readout - as described in the FAQ.
  18. It could take a week to bleed the system - continually adding coolant with the bleed valve open. It could also be be that parts of a fractured water pump are lodged in the engine or thermostat. Was the water pump impeller fractured? If so did you find all the pieces?
  19. Most likely both horns (behind the front bumper) are bad. Common problem - which is why most folks upgrade.
  20. 955.512.583.00 Trim cover (left) -- US MSRP $9.43 955.512.584.00 Trim cover (left) -- US MSRP $9.43 000.043.204.38 Sealing material -- US MSRP $24.37 I do not know what the sealing material is (and the parts list does not say) but I suspect an RTV type silicone for weatherproofing and still staying soft in the winter. Porsche uses this same sealant on all their cars - body parts.
  21. BOSE 2002 Amp (996.645.341.00)
  22. :welcome: Sorry, no one here can help you without the model, year of your car, and the option number for the radio/amp you have (usually either M490 or M680).
  23. P0506 Idle Air Control - Idle Speed Too Low Possible fault cause: - IAC valve is sticking. - Air cleaner clogged. Perhaps the oil was not cleaned out of the throttle body after the AOS replacement?
