  1. Durametric is 'reasonable' at $287. A PST2 or PIWIS tester (lease) are in the thousands of dollars. I recommend the Durametric. http://www.durametric.com/
  2. I doubt the generic readers will read the Tiptronic codes - you will likely need the Durametric software, a PST2 or PIWIS tester to read these fault codes.
  3. A good Porsche OPC/dealer should be willing look up your VIN's history and see if that TSB was already done. This was not a recall nut 'voluntary' when a customer reported a problem. But then again if you are sure that is where the noise is coming from perhaps the replacement (or original is so old and brittle) that it should be replaced We have to remember our MY1999 cars are 11 years old this year. ;)
  4. You need to put a PST2 or PIWIS tester on this car - it will pinpoint the cause of the coolant light and show the fault code(s) (or pending fault codes) for the misfires. This is the fast - no guessing solution.
  5. Please do a search here - this has been covered many times.
  6. PCM 1 was never used in Cayenne - I am sure you mean PCM2?
  7. 996 VIN Perhaps you could tell us what TSB you are concerned about?
  8. P1411 Secondary Air Injection Sy.stem - Signal Implausible (Cylinders 4 - 6) Do you also have a P0410 Secondary Air Injection System - Signal Implausible (Cylinders 1 - 3)? Possible causes: - Wiring harness or fuse - Relay - DME control module - Air supply lines - Secondary air injection pump - Electric change-over valve - Air change-over valve
  9. There are transmission fault code for the Tiptronic - chances are there is a stored code or a pending code. I doubt the generic readers will read the Tiptronic codes - you will likely need the Durametric software, a PST2 or PIWIS tester to read these fault codes.
  10. TSB 7/00 3041 Creaking Noise in Clutch Bell Housing Area - dated Dec 22, 2000 You will need to replace the release lever arm for sure and anything else that is worn.
  11. http://www.sunsetimports.com/parts/
  12. P2281 Leak Ahead of Throttle Valve – Below Limit/Above Limit Possible cause of fault: - Leak between turbocharger and throttle valve Check intake distributor for leaks.
  13. Why buy off of eBay? Chance's are you will get over charged for this item. WKD 996 120 99 Owners Manual -- US MSRP $22.96 from your dealer. Less from Sunset Imports (Porsche Parts at Dealer Cost).
  14. TSBs are available to view here by our Contributing Members.
  15. I would start by cleaning it off and verifying that re-occurs. What if someone spilled some on the engine when topping up and it is just draining down? Either way I would try to verify for sure you have a leak and where it is coming from.
  16. Make sure you plugged the MAF sensor cable back in.
  17. To lower the top: - Hand brake on - Ignition is switched on (engine running or off) - engine compartment lid closed Press the dash rocker switch until top is at the open or closed position. You can also open with the key while the key is in the drivers door lock.
  18. I had a 74 and it was next to the heat exchanger (under the battery as I recall) - on a 914-6 I am not sure.
  19. Please re-read the board Guideline/Rules that you agreed to when you registered here. "Please post your messages in one forum only. Crossposting, double posting, triple posting, etc. are all a waste of time and valuable resources. If you post the same message in multiple times or in multiple forums, we will delete the ones we feel are inappropriate." Your 4 other posts have been deleted.
  20. :welcome: The 6 cylinder Cayenne is simply called 'Cayenne'. The 8 cylinder Cayenne is called 'Cayenne S' and the turbo version is 'Cayenne Turbo'.
  21. I had a 1974 RoW 914 2.0. Yes, right front fender for the radio antenna. Not sure it makes a lot difference unless you plan an 'as delivered' restoration. As I recall the fuel pump did not get moved to the front (on the 4 cylinder cars) until 1975. In it's location in the rear it could get pretty hot and occasionally vapor lock.
  22. Not IMHO - no way you get 60 HP out of a chip on a normally aspirated Porsche. If you could why wouldn't Porsche do it? I wrote about these false claims in blog a while back...
  23. Please post radio problems in another thread - this thread is for lost codes only. Check the fuse on the fuse panel and the fuse on the back of the radio.
