  1. The most common cause of noise in the rear of the car is a loose rear swaybar. Best check the mounting points.
  2. Richard - I don't see that. I see MY01 clearly has different seat belts than MY02 and newer. The Porsche Service Information Book for MY02 996TT also talks about the new pyrotechnic tensioners for MY2002.

  7. From the model year 2002 Tech Book "For model year '02, all 911 models are fitted with belt tensioners and belt-force tensioners. The pyrotechnic ball belt tensioner is combined with the belt-force limiter in one unit. The threshold value for triggering the pyrotechnic belt tensioner is calculated as for the airbag actuation from the sensor signals for vehicle deceleration. The triggering of the belt tensioner during a frontal collision takes place together with the triggering of the front airbags. During a rear collision only the belt tensioner is triggered. The balls are driven through a pyrotechnic propellant charge. This kinetic energy is carried over to the belt reel via a pinion. Belt slack is taken up by winding in belt. Belt-force limiters To avoid bruising and internal injury, the belt's pulling force must be limited to a bearable level. Further tensioning beyond a dangerous pulling force level is prevented. The belt can be balanced up to a certain length via a torsion shaft in the belt mechanism." Since the newer style seat belts are driven off the airbag circuit I do not think they would work properly in older cars.
  8. Sorry, to hear about your problem. This is why we encourage folks to check their drains BEFORE this happens. Central Locking/Immobilizer is under the drivers seat (LHD cars). Even if you dry it out I doubt it would be salvageable. Once water touches powered circuits it usually more expensive to repair and likely to corrode and cause more problems in the future. Probably not as bad as you think - a new alarm box is about US MSRP $391.51 plus programming. Likely 1 hour to reprogram all of your keys and DME, etc. Make sure you get all the keys with their unique 40 digit codes to the shop - it highly unlikely they can copy the info out of your old alarm box.

  14. Just have the tech run a MOST test (using a PIWIS) and it should report any non-corrected errors.
  15. As long as you don't have a pinched line somewhere from the front to the rear of the car and your measurement was at the fuel rail - then it pretty much has to be the fuel pump.

Fault code 1587 -- Driver’s airbag ignition circuit (stage 2) Possible cause of fault: - Upper limit value exceeded (based on the resistance value of the driver’s airbag unit and the wiring between the airbag triggering unit and the driver’s airbag unit) - Lower limit value not reached (based on the resistance value of the driver’s airbag unit and the wiring between the airbag triggering unit and the driver’s airbag unit) - Short circuit to B+ - Short circuit to ground - Contact unit between steering wheel and vehicle faulty - Driver’s airbag unit faulty - Triggering unit for airbag faulty Not sure you really want to mess with an airbag - since you have CPO this may be a good time to use it.
  17. How many different threads have you started - 3? Please tell us the exact problem and any fault codes and we will try to help.
  18. There is nothing in the Porsche documentation that I have that mentions this. I think you will likely need to call a transmission specialty shop that works on Mercedes Benz and Porsche automatic transmissions.
  19. I do not have P1800 on any of my lists are you sure it isn't P1810 or something else? The P1600 is a CAN communication error which should not be related to the camshaft issues. Always best to triple check the timing - if it goes off too far the results are not pretty.
  20. This is a 3.6 liter in a Boxster? If so, which DME are you using?
  21. The only way you can get X75 is to replace the transmission with the X75 version. New about $14,000 MSRP or Exchange - about $11,000 MSRP plus installation costs.
  22. Coil pack, loose spark plug, poor electrical connection, bad spark plug. Those seem the most likely.

P1600 CAN timeout PSM - open circuit Possible fault cause - Wiring harness - PSM control module not connected - PSM control module faulty Note: - If all CAN bus faults are stored, there must be a short circuit in the CAN bus wiring. - If one CAN bus fault is stored, the cruise control system is out of order. - CAN bus faults may be caused by a control module reset. The fault is then indicated as "Not present".
  24. Can we get the exact model and year please?
  25. Normally the clutch pedal gets firmer (harder to push down) when the clutch disc is worn out. I would also consider adjusting the clutch and checking to see that the linkage under the car at the transmission is not bent or damaged.
