  1. Whenever I see the words "random" and "electrical" I go right for the battery and chassis grounds.
  2. Whenever I see the words "random" and "electrical" I go right for the battery and chassis grounds. And 997-1 has a known battery cable problem.
  3. Remove the old mirror by rotating the base 90 degrees counter-clockwise. I put masking tape (or a rubber hose) around the base and used channel locks and a firm grip to rotate the base 45 degrees. I continued rotating the base by hand another 45 degrees until it released.
  4. This might help... http://www.renntech.org/forums/tutorials/article/40-removing-and-installing-ballast-resistor-for-the-radiator-fan-motor/
  5. P0430 TWC Conversion, Bank 2 - Above Limit Possible fault cause - Oxygen sensor ahead of and after TWC exchanged - Valve lift fault - Aged oxygen sensor after TWC - TWC faulty
  6. To close this-- I checked his VIN - no LSD for his car.
  7. If it is Pentosin in the front of a Tip car then it is more likely a leaking steering rack.
  8. Sounds likely - but test and see first as sometimes the (large) ballast resister goes bad. Not a difficult DIY either way.
  9. You only good "sensor only" cleaning spray. Do not touch the sensor with cloth or fingers - let it dry naturally. Wait 30 minutes or so before starting the car to allow it to completely dry.
  10. I you PM me your VIN I will look-up to see if you have an LSD.
  11. Under the front hood and in the maintenance manual for your car.
  12. Sorry, but without the tester you are just guessing. You could take each sensor out and test it with an ohm meter - but if it is a wire harness problem you still won't find it testing sensors.
  13. The shape of the headlights changed in MY2002 so that bumper or your fenders and headlights will need to change.
  14. If the gas cap needed replacing that is good that you replaced it. As far as the P0102 - it could not really have anything to do with the gas cap - just a coincidence I think. Here is the troubleshooting for a P0102 from the Porsche Service Manuals. Either the wiring is bad or the MAF is bad - period. (click to enlarge)
  15. If you put the car on a Durametric, or Porsche PIWIS tester it will likely tell you exactly which sensors (if any) are bad. Really worth your time instead of buying parts and guessing - IMHO.
  16. Yes, same issue with this type of battery vent - they need to supply you the vent kit. In this case the battery has a vent hole on each side. In the vent kit is a connector and a plug. You simply plug connector to the battery and then your vent tube and plug the other side of the battery.
  17. Not the P0102 fault code. P01012 is clearly an MAF fault. Usually cause is that the MAF it disconnected or bad.
  18. Radio Mexico is not covered on our list so I have no idea if this work or not... Try 5408
  19. I think you will need to use Durametric or a Porsche PIWIS tester - there is no P0004 in any of my lists.
