  1. Correct - no boost gauge. Plus 996 Carrera had the early cluster (My1998-2000), a one year cluster (MY2001), and then the "Turbo like" cluster (MY2002-2005).
  2. Porsche only shows the one diagram. All the parts are the same except for a few. The foam part is M338 - M338 items are not for your (M339) car.

  4. Yes, that certainly could be it. I do know when your replace the ABS electronics you have to drive the car to reset everything.
  5. By all models do you mean all Porsche models or all 928 models? All Porsche models - no there are different decoders for different models on older cars and the newer cars (with 17 digit VINs) can all be decoded with a single tool here For 928 model - yes, I believe that same VIN decoding works on all. Yes, there is an engine list by model, year, and serial number grouping. As far as models what is in the VIN decode explanation is all there is -- models, engines, and options varied by delivery location.
  6. Polarity should not matter - but I guess you could try swapping them. If that does not work then you might have a bad speed sensor. Measure resistance between pin 1 and pin 2 on speed sensor. Display should read: 1 k ohms to 3 k ohms If not, then it needs to be replaced.
  7. Brown/Green and Borwn/Black got to the brake pad sensor. Brown/Blue and Brown/White go to the speed sensor. brown wire goes to ground (chassis) at the wheel carrier screw point.
  8. On the Tip that is all internal to the selector assembly - an expensive part. So you might want to make sure first.

  10. I agree on a normally aspirated 996 you can spend several thousand dollars and maybe get to an additional 30 HP. If you want a lot more HP and the ability to add much more -- then trade the car in and get a 996 Turbo. Turbos are pretty easy to get additional 100 plus HP from exhaust, divertor valves and and a good tune.
  11. creekman - RoW cars have different alarm system than US/Canada cars. There is a special procedure to remove the battery without setting off the car alarm. In RoW cars the alarm horn has it's own separate battery and logic. Upnorth - yes you can likely remove the key once the battery is out - but you might want to remove/disconnect the alarm horn just in case.

  13. Do you have a CDR-23 or a NAV package like PCM?
  14. Perform adaptation first before anything else. The following conditions must be satisfied to ensure that the adaptation is performed: - Do not actuate the accelerator pedal (for instance, make sure that there is not a carpet pressing on the pedal) - Vehicle is stationary - Battery voltage between 10 V and 16 V - Engine temperature between 5 °C and 100 °C - Intake air temperature > 10°C 1. Switch the ignition on without starting the engine 2. Using the 9588 Porsche System Tester ll (or PIWIS, or PIWIS 2) perform a "throttle adaptation" under the "System adaptation" section (the notes which follow must be observed).
  15. Check the two fuses (Ebox FS 13 and 14) first before swapping out any parts. Might also be worth swapping the two fuel pumps relays (Ebox 1/6 and 19) and seeing the symptom follows.
  16. BOSE gets you more speakers (front, rear, and dash mid-range), sub-woofer - plus an amp. Have you heard that system? If not, you might want to wait see what it sounds like before you change things out. Also, realize that almost all of the communication is via an optical (fiber-optic) system so I doubt there are any 3rd party solutions that don't replace everything.

  18. Please do not type in ALL CAPS - that is shouting on the Internet. The 4th stalk on your steering wheel controls what is displayed there - it is part of the On Board Computer (OBC) - check your owners manual for more information.
