  1. Sometimes the sticker is wrong - which is why we ask folks to use the procedure to display it on the radio (in the Lost Radio Code FAQ) We'll see if your's is actually correct -- try 0524
  2. Non contact pyrometer or a kitchen temp probe are the DIY favorites. Thanks! I need to get one of those.. You can find one on Amazon for less than $20: Dang.... now I had to buy one of those (actually the higher temperature version 630) :D
  3. You are right this is a tough one then... Which dash/console position is in it?
  4. :welcome: I can think of a couple of other things... - have you looked to see if there is anything else on the circuit -- like a 3rd party DSP or radar detector or ? - any wire splices under the front dash? or taped wires from a previous install?
  5. Sometimes the sticker is wrong - which is why we ask folks to use the procedure to display it on the radio (in the Lost Radio Code FAQ) We'll see if your's is actually correct -- try 9765
  6. Try 0624 Thanks for the quick response, unfortunately those numbers don't work...and I tried it three times. So I'll be waiting for anymore combinations you may think will work. Thanks! If you followed the instructions in the Lost Radio code FAQ and gave me the correct serial number then there is nothing more I can do for you. If that is the serial number your radio reported then it is likely your radio has been repaired without following the Becker (the radio manufacturer's) procedures. Well thanks Loren, I'm not sure about anything being repaired, as I bought the car a couple days ago, the dealer said they didn't have a code, I googled codes, and I found this site. So after the wait period is over, I will try to get those codes again to double check, but idk. Thanks though! Alright...so the waiting period ended, tried again to no avail. Decided to double check instructions. I'm sorry, but the serial is actually Y5041100, with the 4462. I'm sorry I didn't put the second zero originally. I hope this is the reason the code you originally gave me isn't working :) thank you again! I have enjoyed very much the sound of the engine lately... For that serial number try 4194
  7. I have not heard of the OBC getting lost on the 996 before. That is not to say it can not or won't happen. A weak battery can cause all sorts of strange electrical malfunctions - so make sure your battery is good and charging at a rate of 13 volts or higher. If the battery is okay then I would try turning the OBC off using a (PST2 or PIWIS) - then turning it back on. If that does not work then I think you are looking at stalk issue.
  8. Please keep your replies (on the same subject) to one thread only. It makes it confusing or looks like two separate issues when you post multiple times. Thanks.
  9. I suggest you test in this order: - weak battery (do both a load test and specific gravity test on each cell) - alternator (many auto parts shops can test alternators and regulators) - regulator (inside the alternator housing can be tested at the same time the alternator is tested)
  10. Try 0624 Thanks for the quick response, unfortunately those numbers don't work...and I tried it three times. So I'll be waiting for anymore combinations you may think will work. Thanks! 11. The engine compartment fan is not an exhaust fan - it pulls cool air INTO the engine compartment.
