  1. Check the serpentine belt pulleys by removing the belt and spinning each pulley by hand looking for rough or erratic rotation as well as noise.
  2. That is the thermostat housing for the water pump.
  3. I have restored the missing PDF file. You can download it now.
  4. That is secondary air pump. It is required to meet emissions standards. Perfectly normal sound.
  5. Disconnect the MAF and start the car. The idle may lope a little but it should run without backfires or misfires. If not it is time to find a shop with a smoke machine.
  6. Correct, you did not need to change the O2 sensors. The MAF has little (almost nothing) to do with idle - it does most of it's work above 4000 RPM. Since the O2 sensor and MAF change have you cleared the fault codes and re-run the tests? You likely still have an intake air leak but you might need a smoke machine to expedite finding the location of the leak.
  7. Exact model and year of your car please...
  8. You will likely need a PIWIS to further explore and solve your fault 8057. Recorded events (that can not be erased) are only kept in the DME to my knowledge.
  9. You have a fault in the circuit so there is still something wrong. The seat belt was replaced - including the tensioner? Once a seat belt tensioner has fired it must be replaced (pyrotechnic tensioners since 2002).
  10. I would clear all the codes - drive the car a few miles and then read out the codes again. That should be fewer codes and tell you where to start.
  11. Any damage to the steering lock mechanism? 8057 implies that there is something wrong in that circuit or the control module. You may have hidden damage...
  12. You did not read the Lost Radio Code FAQ first. " Can you give me a code for my PCM?These units are manufactured jointly by Siemens and Becker, and the only place where you can get the codes required is from the dealer/OPC. The PCM’s require two codes, the ICS/Siemens code and a Becker code. The ICS is the first code requested.Sorry, the only place you can get a PCM code is from a dealer/OPC".
  13. Personally I like to remove the whole throttle body and the clean the throttle buttery front and back. As well remove the IAC being protective of the paper gasket and clean it until it moves freely. If it does not move freely it will need to be replaced. Here is a DIY article that pretty much covers it (though it is an egas car).
  14. I've seen more than a few Boxsters with a leaking steering rack and power steering fluid on the ground. Quite a bit of work to replace a leaking rack - so inspect it and make sure it is not just a fitting first.
  15. P2228 Function monitoring of torque comparison Possible fault causes: - Hot-film mass air flow meter faulty - DME control module faulty
  16. Try 8983 Please consider a donation to keep this site running.
  17. Yes, you need to read the Lost Radio Code FAQ
  18. US/Canada car or RoW car? Exact model and year of the car please? Xenon or Halogen headlights?
