  1. Here is the table of kits for MOST bus optioned cars (Left Hand Drive ONLY). You will need to check what options you already have in order to get the right kit. See the additional table legends below. (If someone needs RHD cars let me know). 000 044 900 72 CD changer retrofit kit (contains changer, cartridge, brackets, electrical harness, bolts, etc.) plus one of the following kits...

  3. Sometimes there is an air leak if the window does not seal properly -- more noticeable when you add the pressure of the open sunroof. Sometimes it's just cleaning the rubber around the window and sometimes they need to adjust the window. Yes, your gas cap flap (I assume that's what you mean) should stay open when refueling. There is both a hinge and a spring to keep it open. Sounds like your spring is missing or broken. Both items should be fully covered under warranty so I would let the dealer fix them.
  4. I have not do it but I have heard it is about 1-2 hours because of all the other stuff you need to remove to get it out. Here is a diagram of the coolant tank assembly. Make sure you get the newest one (996 106 147 56 for a MY99) as there have been several changes. You might also get 1 liter of Porsche coolant (000 043 203 78) which will give 2 liter when mixed properly at 50-50.
  5. I was told it is no longer available (since the option is no longer available)... which means existing stock only for dealers. You might have to call around some to find one.
  6. Here are the "B" (blue) connector pin outs on a dot matrix for a MY02 Carrera (hopefully this will help)
  7. Also... the light only comes on with the headlights. So if it's not on when they are then it's disconnected or burnt out.
  8. As the oil is thicker (cold) you will see higher oil pressures. As the oil warms it should come into normal range. A little high is usually not bad -- low is bad. Your experience looks normal to me.

"Hello Loren (or anyone else), Just picked up an 03 C4 Cab this month (Gray, Gray, Gray) and received it in from the dealer with a small (what looks like grease) mark on the cabriolet top. Yes, I can bring it back up to the dealer later this month and have them try and get it out, but don't have too much faith with their "prep" guy as he did not do that great of a job prepping the car in the first place. Any good advice on what product might take the stain out without harm to the top? Would like to be prepared as it would appear that a gray top is going to be prone to stains. thanks in advance.   12. There is no mention of any grease or lubricant in the service manual. If you move the mirror using the electronic controls -- does it squeak? Is so, it is in the motor assembly and likely a warranty item. If not, then it is likely the metal clips that hold the mirror glass in place. You might try (carefully) removing the mirror glass and cleaning the clips (if it's not the motor).
  13. Both faults must be turned off with a Porsche PST2 tester. All dealers and some independent garages have these. The rollbars can normally just be pushed down to reset them -- as long as the cars computer did not trigger them. Once the computer has triggered them the computer must be reset before they will stay down. All air bag light triggers must be reset by PST2.

  15. Toby, I have sent you an email with part numbers for the parts of both systems so that you can compare them and see what you need.
  16. 2. Ah... more like the fan motor then -- about two hours to get it out and replace it. 3. Have you bled the clutch (and brake fluid) lately? If you haven't changed the fluid this would be a good place to start. Air and water trapped in the hydraulic lines can cause very odd pedal sensations. You didn't say how many miles on the car but I would still start with the fluid and also the pedal assembly may need greasing (both known problems). If not either of those then it's likely time to suspect the clutch driven plate and throw out bearing.
  17. Porsche publishes a booklet every year with the detailed changes to each model. These are called Technical Information Books. For 2002 they offered this as a CD and then in 2003 they went back to paper books. These usually run from $10 to $30 each. I have not seen the MY04 book yet so you will likely have to rely on the technical press releases. Most notable (to me) for MY03 is: MOST bus system for radio, PCM2, etc. Most notable for MY04 (to me) are: the return of the LSD option, cab tops can now be raised or lowered while moving, and cabs come standard with a hardtop, and an optional thicker steering wheel.
  18. 1. Sounds like a temp sensor is not working right (sometimes). Could be a loose connection or bad sensor. 2. Could be normal - a half held brake will make noise on almost any car. 3. What is "not normal"? Does it slip? Do you have to press the clutch to the floor? Does it engage too high? Can you be more specific?
  19. 1. You will need to be careful not to scratch the dash. 2. This graphic includes the vent which you do not need to remove.
  20. Kirby, There are at least 6 different part numbers depending on what you want. A plain (no switches) black one like in Don's pic, a 2 switch version, a 4 switch version, and various leather or CF trims. Tell me what you want and I'll post the part number.
  21. It just snaps in and out. If you have switches then make sure you put them back on the same side.

  23. If your cars cluster is non dot-matrix then you could go with any with any non-dot matrix 996 or 986 cluster. The newer dot-matrix cluster (to my knowledge) will not work in the older cars -- as I said the connectors are 32 pin vs. 26 pin on the older clusters and the newer cluster use the CAN bus that does not exist in the older cars.
  24. The pinouts are all different as well as some of the onboard computers. Even if you could find the right pins I don't think it would work since your computers have different signals (functions).
  25. From what I can tell that is a TT/GT2 cluster for up to MY02. It was replaced (in the parts list) by 996 641 213 03 70C and then by 996 641 213 05 70C.
