  1. Sorry no, those are option list codes for the different central control boxes. I am afraid the dealer is correct that you need a different regional central control box. The "list" price I see in the Porsche parts list is over $5000 US (about $5300).
  2. I do not know why this is either but the Porsche parts list does show several different regional PCM control units.
  3. Covers all Carrera (996), GT3, TT / GT2 and Boxster (986) cars Here is the long explanation from the service manual on the flashing coolant light. "Four functions of the coolant warning light: 1. Engine coolant level too low -- light flashes slowly (0.5 Hz) 2. Engine compartment temperature too high -- light flashes slowly (0.5 Hz) (engine compartment blower might be faulty) 3. Engine coolant temperature too high -- light is lit; pointer on the right 4. Temperature sensor at water outlet faulty -- light flashes rapidly (1 Hz) ; pointer on the right Note: The temperature warning in point three is indicated if the conditions "engine coolant temperature too high" and "engine coolant level too low" are present simultaneously."
  4. These cars do strange electrical things when the battery is weak. How old is your battery? If it is 4 years or older it should be replaced.
  5. Lots of online OEM parts... here is one: https://www.sunsetporscheparts.com/auto-parts/1996/porsche/911/carrera-trim/3-6l-h6-gas-engine/body-cat/glass-door-scat
  6. Yes, Boxster S brakes are an excellent plug and play upgrade. I have helped several folks do that and I am sure many others on this site have done it also.
  7. I made this a tutorial - in the maintenance section (so it can easily be found). I will close this topic so any questions or comments stay with the tutorial.
  8. AS JFP said the clutch fluid and final drive share the same gear oil (not ATF). As I recall you do need to change the clutch fluid/final twice as often as the ATF transmission fluid.
  9. I spoke of tire width change and what will fit under the fenders without interference. You want to be careful changing the tire height profile. Changing the tie height profile changes the tires rolling diameter - which can affect ABS , PSM, and GPS. As I recall Porsche recommends no more that a 5% change in overall rolling diameter.
  10. Different markets stress the cars differently and/or may have more restrictive (or less restrictive) laws. I would expect fluid changed (in normal conditions) at the correct interval to be moderately brown but still see-through. As I said before I suspect your had never been changed before.
  11. You did not read the Lost Radio Code FAQ... "Can you give me a code for my PCM? These units are manufactured jointly by Siemens and Becker, and the only place where you can get the codes required is from the dealer/OPC. The PCM’s require two codes, the ICS/Siemens code, and a Becker code. The ICS is the first code requested. Sorry, the only place you can get a PCM code is from a dealer/OPC."
  12. You should be able to run Front: 235/40ZR x 18 and Rear: 295/30ZR x 18 without issues. (I run these on my car).
