  1. 986 is a Boxster and 996 is a Carrera - the roof systems are very different. The Boxster uses relays and the Carrera does not. The Carrera uses stepper motors - so the calibration is critical to proper operation. Both Durametric and PIWIS (and the older PST2) can re-calibrate the top but I do not know of other software that can.
  2. Exact model and year of the car are always helpful...
  3. Covered here many times before. Check the fuses - including the one on the amp. In some cases, a replacement amp cures the problem.
  4. You need to READ and follow the procedure in the Lost Radio Code FAQ
  5. Easy enough to test - remove the drive belt and run the engine for a few seconds if the squeal goes away then it is something in the pulley system. If it does not go away then you need to look at other potential causes: bellow leak at the bottom of the AOS, cracked oil filler tube, or serious internal engine issues.
  6. Porsche stopped printing Sevice Manuals in 2006. All service needs after that were supplied in their PIWIS diagnostic systems - $18,000/year to lease. Could someone have printed pages from the PIWIS tester? Yes, but when you sign the lease for the tester you also agree to not copy or disseminate the copyrighted information.
  7. Read and follow the procedure in the Lost Radio Code FAQ.
  8. Egas and electronic throttle are the same. Egas started in MY2000 - so your car does have Egas. As well all C4 had Egas from the start of 996 production.
