  1. Sounds like it has lost it's tension. As I recall when it is installed they wind up a tensioning spring. Does the motor run?
  2. Yes, that is a US part number - you can see the retail price here in the US Retail Price lookup. (Contributing Members only)
  3. German cars? Not really true. On Porsche's the cigarette lighter is always hot (unswitched +12 volts) - so theoretically you could put enough draw there to bring the battery down over time. It will depend on how much current for how long. On my Mercedes the cigarette lighter is switched so it is off when you turn the key off. There is good and bad to both - on the Porsche you can use the battery maintainer through the cigarette lighter but if you left something else plugged in you could cause a drain. On the Mercedes you can't charge the battery through the cigarette lighter nor could you cause a drain. I personally prefer the Porsche method.
  4. We have been able to find and acquire a fairly good number number of older and missing TSBs for most all models. These include some Campaign TSBs (including recalls), Workshop Service Action TSBs, and quite a few Cayenne Quality Improvement Workshop Campaign TSBs . We have added and/or updated TSBs in the following categories today (131 total): Boxster (986) - 26 Boxster (987) - 4 Carrera (996) - 28 Carrera (997) - 3 Cayenne - 34 TT (996) - 32 CGT - 4
  5. Not bad! MSRP is $629 from Porsche (and yes that is an exchange price)
  6. What was Autozone's price for the alternator?
  7. 100 C or F? 100 C is too hot. You should check and clean your front radiators. Also, check you coolant tank and make sure it is full and not leaking.
  8. As long as the CEL is not flashing it is okay to drive the car (as long as it runs ok). They have to find the problem before any parts/labor estimates. If you had a P1123 (cylinders 1-3) also then I would say a dirty MAF - but since it is only on one side they need to look at the DME readings to tell if the MAF is working right.
  9. P1125 Oxygen Sensing Adaptation Area 1 (Cylinders 4 - 6) - Lean Threshold This means that mixture on cylinders 3-6 is too rich and the DME can not correct for it. Potential causes are: - Fuel pressure too high. - Fuel injector leaking. - EVAP canister purge valve open. Since you just bought the car I would go back and make them fix it.
  10. That is the correct operation. The function of the purge fan is to pull cool air into the engine compartment. The fan should should come on very rarely. http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...ost&p=72289
  11. 996.512.250.00 Rear spoiler wall -- MSRP $80.19 (as of June 2007)
  12. 996.561.787.00.01C Cover cap I haven't tried to replace one - perhaps someone else here has and can help.

  14. Porsche says not to. I believe the internal tubing diameter is small on the 3.4 mufflers.
  15. Folks you need to hook up either the Durametric Software or a PST2 (or PIWIS) and find out what zone is causing the fault. Then we can address fixing it. Until then we would just be shooting in the dark.
  16. Hi Gas-man, I just read your experience with your 1999 Ml 430. I have a 1999 Ml 320 with only 62000 miles. I bought this from a friend when it had 48000 miles about 2 years ago. I have had similar experiences...engine failure while idling and while about to accelarate, a quart of oil every so often. I even had to change my power steering rack just the other day. I thought the engine failure was because of the quality of gasoline I was getting, then I read your experience. How do I go about doing this? Who is your dealer? . Should I call Mbenz headquarters first or just go directly to the dealer. I understand from other sites that they could give you a run around. Appreciate the advice. Thanks. Please - this is a Porsche technical website. Please keep your posts Porsche related. Thanks.
  17. Brake discs (Boxster) Front - 298 mm Rear - 292 mm Brake discs (Boxster S) Front - 318 mm Rear - 299 mm
  18. According to the schematic... C1 pin 6 is switched power for the amp. A pin 5 is the antenna amplifier connector. The is no power antenna line.
  19. As I recall it can take 2-5 minutes to initialize a PCM unit after it has had power removed. I think it has to go through a self-calibration and then try to locate itself.

  21. I think you might need more cylinders to get that sound ;) I think the PSE and Tubi have more of a "raspy" sound than the others.
  22. You need to test with the fender liner off so you can see where the leak is. The two option left are the motor and the tubing. Of course if you have headlight washers that adds three more options...
  23. Basically just look at my 3rd Radiator Install Instructions here. It is the same process. We are doing this on Chuck Jones car on Saturday so I'll see if Chuck will take some fresh pics too.
