  1. Yes, it can be. On egas cars the idle ports are tiny holes near the throttle butterfly together with minute movements of the throttle butterfly establish a stable idle. It certainly wouldn't hurt to clean the throttle butterfly.
  2. If you visit some Audi, Jeep and Mercedes forums you will see the same stuff. Folks that have had lots of problems. I just read a thread on a Mercedes board where there were 16 pages (25 posts per page) of folks complaining about the same 15 items that were failing on all their Mercedes. I believe the fact is folks that don't have problems or don't work on their own cars don't come to these sites. Just my two cents... :soapbox: (I'll step off my box now)
  3. Fuel vapors also pass back into the throttle body. I guess it is those vapors - because I can tell it makes a difference in how often I have to clean the throttle body.
  4. You get to the tank through the left front wheel well. You will need to remove the wheel, the wheel well liner. Disconnect the hoses then remove the tank. I think the two nuts that hold the tank in place are accessed through the A-pillar (inside the door jam). Good Luck!

  6. We have added and/or updated TSBs in the following categories today (9 total): Cayenne - 4 Cayenne (Gen 2 as of MY08) - 4 TT (996) - 1
  7. You open the bleed valve when there has been air introduced into the system - like after a hose change or a radiator replacement. It is not intended for a coolant flush procedure. For a coolant flush the new coolant needs to be drawn into the engine/system using a vacuum device. This is only way to assure that you don't get air trapped in the system somewhere when refilling or flushing the complete system.
  8. It has a membrane so it is in fact a 1 way valve. Pressure normally pushes the valve open and air escapes through the membrane but not liquid. Cup cars run with the valve open all the time.
  9. On 9x6 series the adjustments are all Torx screws inside the door panel.
  10. There are tiny air bypass ports near the butterfly (or in MY99 C2 an idle control valve) when these get gummed up with carbon deposits they can affect the idle. I usually run a bottle of Chevron Techroline through my car about every 3,000 miles - that seems to keep the carbon build at bay.
  11. Did they replace either of the front headlight leveling sensors? If so the controller will need to be recalibrated using a PIWIS tester.
  12. If you are sure the spark plugs/coils are good then you need to start looking at other possible causes of the misfires. Such as a bad flywheel sensor, or bad cam sensor.

P1313 Misfire, Cylinder 1, Emission Relevant P1314 Misfire, Cylinder 2, Emission Relevant P1316 Misfire, Cylinder 4, Emission Relevant P1318 Misfire, Cylinder 6, Emission Relevant P1319 Misfire, Emission Relevant Most likely causes: - Fouled, faulty or incorrect - Contact resistance - Loose contacts Have you changed the spark plugs recently? Correct spark plugs? You should check the continuity of the flywheel sensor. Check for cracked ignition coils.
  14. The oil change is the same as the Carrera here.
  15. Can you double check the part numbers?
  16. Did you take the two Torx screws out of the AC condensers and clean the radiator behind them?
  17. Those are not TT style bummperettes. Those alook like MY02 and newer Carrera bumperettes. Your bumper would need the slots and the support bracket (that holds them in place) to use these bumperettes.
  18. Sorry, my misunderstanding. Let me make sure I understand what you want to do... You want to put Boxster (at leaset the part number implies Boxster) sideskirts on a MY99 Carrera? Those are not good numbers from what I can research (for either a Boxster or Carrera). If they started with 996 they would be correct for a MY99 to MY01 Carrera.
  19. Those are the correct numbers from the 2000 TSB (actually they have a G2X appended to the end of the number signifying that they come unpainted). Porsche later updated the parts (and part numbers) to 986.559.980.01.G2X and 986.559.981.01.G2X. I do not know what changed - or if it was just a vendor change. Bottom line - they should work fine.   20. P1115 Oxygen Sensor Heating Ahead of TWC, Bank 1 – Above Limit I would clean and check the connector on that sensor first - then reset the CEL and see if it comes back. If it does then replace it.
