  1. A new 997 engine (no X51, rear wheel drive) is about MSRP $29,298.00 An exchange (rebuilt) engine is about MSRP $9,190.00
  2. 3. Only change I would make to ebaker's excellent DIY is in step 6. It is not necessary to remove the center heat shield - just the two screws on each end. This will allow you enough room to slide the intercooler forward and out. This would also be a good time to inspect and or replace old intercooler hoses. If they are soft and easily collapse then you are going to need them soon anyway.
  4. Sorry, only a dealer can give you codes for a NAV system.
  5. MY01 and newer should have the newer gold connectors. A buckle can still fail from electrical or contacts corroding - or just plain wear.
  6. Try companies that sell wheel spacers (like H&R).
  7. Are there any particular model years that are subject to this problem? Do we know when the gold contacts came into use? Thanks... The procedure and what year/models are affected is all in the 12 page TSB.
  8. Check the threads in the head and also check for loose head studs.
  9. Here is the complete parts list. I do not know if you have the self-dimming mirror or not so you will need to pick the correct parts based on your options. 996_door_mirror.pdf
  10. You are going to have to look and see which parts are actually broken.
  11. The brake sensors are just wires. When the wire wears through it breaks the connection and turns the warning light on. If you do not want to use the sensors then just tie the wires up and away from the pads.
  12. Try 1253 or 1251
  13. Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST
  14. These are Porsche factory manuals and can be updated with supplements. What is floating around the internet is both illegal copies and incomplete.
  15. Yup, $200.00 (for RennTech.org Members only) while they last. :D
  16. MY09 Turbo order guide just came out - so they are coming a little at a time...
  17. P1314 Misfire, Cylinder 2, Emission Relevant P1319 Misfire, Emission Relevant - Fouled, faulty or incorrect - Contact resistance - Loose contacts Are you sure the coil pack electrical is properly connected on cylinder 2?
  18. Did you look on page 329 of your owners manual? If you don't have an owners manual you can download one here
  19. Search here works just like on Google. You can tell it give you only topics with specific words. For this question I searched for +stripped +drain +plug So it only found topic with all three of those words.
  20. How to remove stripped drain plug?
  21. Follow the harness - items 11 and 12.
  22. 22 ftlb. for new spark plugs 18.5 ftlb. for remounted spark plugs
  23. Where did you get the repair CDs from? Are they ToolPants' DVDs or other CDs? Thanks! I got the Porsche Dealer Workshop CD manuals and PET from Ebay. Some guy was selling copies I guess from the originals. Would you like a copy? Chris Please do not sell or distribute copyrighted material here - unless it is your copyright. Thank you.
