  1. TP, can the bearing be removed from the case and shaft from behind that cover? Thanks. Usually there is a lot more damage than just the bearing (a whole lot more).
  2. Likely just garage since it is just one timeout. You get timeouts sometime when performing tests. I would note it, erase it - and see if it comes back.
  3. Everyone that is registered here has PM capability. Only Contributing Members can attach files or images to PMs.
  4. P0650 165 Check Engine Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) – Open Circuit Open circuit – Break in wiring P0153 Oxygen Sensor Ahead of TWC, Bank 2 – Below Limit P1276 22 Signal Delay Time for Oxygen Sensor Aging, Bank 2 – Above/Below Limit – Oxygen sensor ahead of TWC
  5. MAF has nothing to do with your idle - just unplug it and I doubt you will see any change. Perhaps you had: P0410 Secondary Air Injection System - Signal Implausible (Cylinders 1 - 3) P1411 Secondary Air Injection Sy.stem - Signal Implausible (Cylinders 4 - 6) Possible faults: Secondary air injection pump is not triggered. Secondary air injection pump does not work. Air supply lines restricted. Electric change-over valve does not work. Air change-over valve does not work. Vacuum system leaks. - Wiring harness or fuse - Relay - DME control module - Air supply lines - Secondary air injection pump Does your air pump run at startup?
  6. It would be really helpful if you would tell us: - the model and year of your car - US/Canada or RoW car - the faults codes that led to the valve replacements Thanks.
  7. Try 1253 or 1251 No joy on those codes, Do you any other alternatives ??? Thanks. Knickknack Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST
  8. Yes, MSRP is Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price.
  9. A new 997 engine (no X51, rear wheel drive) is about MSRP $29,298.00 An exchange (rebuilt) engine is about MSRP $9,190.00
  10. P0491 Secondary Air Injection System, Bank 1 - Insufficient Flow P0492 Secondary Air Injection System, Bank 2 - Insufficient Flow Possible cause of fault - Electrical fault in power supply or line between relay and secondary air injection pump - Secondary air injection pump relay mechanically faulty - Mechanical fault in electrical secondary air valve - Pneumatic secondary air valve faulty/sluggish - Electrical fault in secondary air injection pump - Mechanical fault in secondary air injection pump or secondary air injection pump blocked - Vacuum system leaking - Air hose to secondary air injection pump slipped off or constricted
  11. Only change I would make to ebaker's excellent DIY is in step 6. It is not necessary to remove the center heat shield - just the two screws on each end. This will allow you enough room to slide the intercooler forward and out. This would also be a good time to inspect and or replace old intercooler hoses. If they are soft and easily collapse then you are going to need them soon anyway.
  12. Sorry, only a dealer can give you codes for a NAV system.
  13. MY01 and newer should have the newer gold connectors. A buckle can still fail from electrical or contacts corroding - or just plain wear.
  14. Try companies that sell wheel spacers (like H&R).
  15. Are there any particular model years that are subject to this problem? Do we know when the gold contacts came into use? Thanks... The procedure and what year/models are affected is all in the 12 page TSB.
  16. Check the threads in the head and also check for loose head studs.
  17. Here is the complete parts list. I do not know if you have the self-dimming mirror or not so you will need to pick the correct parts based on your options. 996_door_mirror.pdf
  18. You are going to have to look and see which parts are actually broken.
  19. The brake sensors are just wires. When the wire wears through it breaks the connection and turns the warning light on. If you do not want to use the sensors then just tie the wires up and away from the pads.

  21. These are Porsche factory manuals and can be updated with supplements. What is floating around the internet is both illegal copies and incomplete.
